VIDEO | Add Interest to Clean & Simple Cards using the Eclipse Technique

Hello there, today I am using one of my favourite techniques - the eclipse technique. I think this is a great way to add interest to clean and simple cards. The technique takes it's name from the lunar eclipse, where the moon is in front of the sun but you can still see the sun around the outside edges. In this case, the image is in front of the tag but you can still see the tag around the outsides.

I started off by stamping one of the flowers from the Altenew Twin Blooms Stamp Set onto a panel of white cardstock using Altenew Obsidian Pigment Ink. I then used the Altenew Twin Blooms Stencils to add colour to the image with ink blending and blending brushes. I used Altenew Bubblegum Dreams Fresh Dye Inks for the petals and Altenew Golden Sunset Fresh Dye Inks for the centres.

I used Altenew Green Valley Fresh Dye Inks for the leaves. I then placed the largest top layer tag from the Altenew Ornate Tags Die Set on top. I held in place with low-tack tape and ran it through my die cutting machine. I made sure to keep all the pieces, both negative and positive, and then die cut the tag again four times from white cardstock.

I adhered the negative from the stamped panel (the outside edge piece) onto a white US A2 sized card base using Altenew Glue Tape. I then adhered one of the white cardstock tags inside the opening. Using my Altenew Perfect Picker, I added all the small inside/negative pieces back into background, adhering with liquid glue.

I adhered the white cardstock tags to the card, one on top of another, and then adhered the stamped one on top, to complete the stamped design. I stamped a sentiment from the Altenew Twin Blooms Stamp Set onto Altenew Crafty Necessities: Jet Black Cardstock using Altenew Embossing Ink. I applied Altenew Pure White Crisp Embossing Powder and heat set. It was cut into a strip and adhered to the card with Altenew Instant Dimension Foam Tape. To finish, I embellished with Altenew Clear Iridescent Stellar Sequins

I made a card very similar to this which I shared HERE but I really love the addition of the eclipse technique with it. It really adds something to it, I think! Thank you so much for stopping by today, I really do appreciate it. I hope you have a great day!
