Spellbinders | Timeless Butterflies

Hello there, today I have something different to share with you - pretty packaging! I don't share it here very often but I really love decorating little parcels and gifts for friends. I saw the Spellbinders Timeless Butterflies Stickers and thought they would be perfect for this purpose ... and of course, I had to pick the purple ones!

My first project is a little glassine bag that I often put little gifts inside to send to friends (I added wax beads for the purpose of the photo!). I started off by cutting panels of white cardstock and placed them inside the new Spellbinders 3-in-1 Banner Punch to cut the banner ends. The banner punch cuts banners for cardstock measuring 2.5", 2" and 1.5". I used the 2" and 1.5" size for my bag today. 

I then created a wax seal using the Spellbinders 1" Solid Circle Wax Seal Stamp and Spellbinders Purple Must-Have Wax Bead Mix. This was my first time making wax seals, so they are not perfect by any means but it was fun making them! 

The larger banner piece was adhered to the glassine bag first using thin foam tape, I then adhered the smaller one on top, also with thin foam tape. The wax seal was adhered on top using a Spellbinders Wax Seal Adhesive Circle. 

The Spellbinders Twilight Butterfly Stickers come as two layers per butterfly - a flat bottom layer and a top dimensional layer. I was able to take the top layer away from the bottom layer and just used the top layer for my projects today. I adhered one of the larger butterflies to the wax seal with a small amount of Bearly Art Glue (there is also a bit of glue on the back anyway). To finish off, I added two Spellbinders Onyx Color Essentials Gems to the butterfly's body. 

Since I made a few wax seals, I also thought that I would use one (in the lighter purple in the mix) for the back of an envelope. I took a Gina K Lovely Lavender A2 Envelope and adhered the wax seal just to the envelope flap (so that I did not adhere the envelope flap down completely). 

I then adhered one of the smaller butterflies from the Spellbinders Twilight Butterfly Stickers set on top. Of course, I would hand deliver this envelope (and the card that will be inside) but I thought it was really pretty for a special occasion!

Spellbinders | Layered Anemone

Hello there, I hope you are well. Today I have a card to share using new products from Spellbinders, which are out today. The new Spotlight Frames and Florals Collection by Lisa Horton is full of what I think are basic products that can be used for lots of card designs. I always like those kinds of products!

I started off my card by die cutting the Spellbinders Layered Anemone Etched Dies from white cardstock. I then added ink blending to them using Distress Inks and Ink Blending Brushes. I used Wilted Violet for the petals, Mustard Seed and Wild Honey for the flower centres, and Twisted Citron and Mowed Lawn for the stems and leaves. 

I adhered the flowers together using Bearly Art Glue. I then die cut one of the Spellbinders Stitched Edge Circle Backgrounds Etched Dies (there are a few ways to use these - with a stitched frame or without or cut as an aperture) twice from white cardstock. I adhered them both together (for some dimension) and then adhered it onto a US A2 sized white card base. 

I adhered the stems and leaves on top using Bearly Art Glue and then the flower heads using thin foam tape. I took the sentiment from the Spellbinders Always You Timeless Sentiments Press Plate set and hot foiled it onto white cardstock using Spellbinders Black Foil and the Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil System. 

I fussy cut it out using scissors and then adhered it to the card using more thin foam tape. To finish off, I added a few Spellbinders Silver Mix Color Essentials Gems.

VIDEO | Decorate Die-Cuts with Stencils

Hello there, today I have a card and video to share using the Hero Arts Balloon Bunch Fancy Dies. I am adding details to them using ink blending and stencils.

I started off by die cutting the bouquet of balloons from the Hero Arts Balloon Bunch Fancy Dies from Hero Arts Deluxe Smooth White Cardstock. I then cut the individual balloon four times from the same cardstock. I added ink blending to the individual balloons first, using a Hero Arts Medium Ink Blending Brush and Hero Arts Core Inks. 

I then added ink blending to the balloons in the bouquet, making sure to mask off the strings so that they remained white. I used Dandelion, Ultra Pink, Amethyst and Aquatic on the individual balloons, and Papaya, Bermuda and Aegean on the ones in the bouquet. I then placed the Hero Arts Sparkle Weave Stencil on top of each balloon and blended the same colour inks on top, to add the pattern onto the balloons. 

I adhered the individual balloons on top of the ones in the bouquet (I did have to cut a little of the bouquet pieces off for them to fit, you can see that in my video below) using Hero Arts Precision Glue XL. I added horizontal score lines onto a US A2 sized card base made from Hero Arts Pitch Black Cardstock. The balloon bouquet was then adhered on top using thin foam tape. 

I stamped the 'happy birthday' sentiment from the Hero Arts Folk Art Stamp Set onto Pitch Black Cardstock using Hero Arts Clear Embossing & Watermark Ink. I applied Hero Arts White Embossing Powder and heat set. It was cut into a strip and adhered to the card with more thin foam tape. I die cut three butterflies from the Hero Arts Flower Pattern Cover Plate using white cardstock and adhered them to the card. To finish, I embellished with Hero Arts Black Enamel Dots.

VIDEO | Easy Heat Emboss Resist

Hello there, do you ever have a time when you feel like you are losing your mojo but you still need to make a card? If this happens to me, I pick a technique that I know not only is pretty easy to do but also gives a big impact - heat emboss resist!

I started off my card by taking the floral image from the Altenew Mini Delight Light My World Stamp & Die Set and stamped it onto Altenew Lagoon Solid Cardstock using Altenew Embossing Ink. I applied Altenew Pure White Crisp Embossing Powder and heat set. I then cut the panel down to 3" x 4 1/4" and placed it on my sticky mat ready for ink blending. 

I added ink blending around the edges using Altenew Sea Shore Fresh Dye Inks (the three darkest) using an Altenew Small Blending Brush. I wanted a bit more darkness, so I added Altenew Jet Black Fresh Dye Ink just at the very edges with an Altenew Micro Blending Brush. I then blended that out with the small brush again. I removed any excess ink from the embossing using a dry cloth. 

To add a bit of sparkle to the panel, I splattered Altenew Sterling Silver Metallic Watercolor on top and set it aside to dry. Once dry, I adhered it to a US A2 sized white card base with Altenew Instant Dimension Foam Tape. I stamped and heat embossed a sentiment from the Altenew Mini Delight Light My World Stamp & Die Set onto more Lagoon cardstock and then cut it into a strip. 

I wanted to make this into a tag, so that I could have it look a little like it was wrapped around the bouquet of flowers, so I took the sentiment strip die from the Altenew Terrific Tags Die Set and instead of cutting it into a fishtail banner shape like the die is, I flipped it over and cut it into an arrow shape instead. I then pierced a hole into it, to look like a tag, before adhering it to the card. I tied a mini bow using Altenew Metallic Thread and adhered it to the tag using a little liquid glue, so it looked like it was coming out from the hole.

VIDEO | You Bring Sunshine

Hello there, I am delighted to be over on the My Favorite Things YouTube channel today, sharing a card using the super cute You Bring Sunshine set. I thought it would be fun to create a mini scene on my card going across three hexagons.

I started off my card by stamping the bear in the hoodie, as well as the chick/bird from the MFT You Bring Sunshine Stamp Set onto white cardstock using black ink. I coloured them using Copic Markers (the colours that I used are listed below the supplies list) and then die cut out using the coordinating MFT You Bring Sunshine Die-namics. 

I also stamped the hello sentiment from the MFT Something for Everything Stamp Set onto white cardstock and die cut out with the coordinating MFT Something for Everything Die-namics. While die cutting, I also die cut three of the smaller MFT Stitched Rounded Hexagon STAX Die-namics from white cardstock. 

I added ink blending to them with Distress Inks - Twisted Citron and Mowed Lawn for the grass, and Wilted Violet for the sky. I just needed Wilted Violet for the small top one, since that would just be the sky. On the middle sized one, I stamped some blades of grass from the MFT You Bring Sunshine set using Mowed Lawn Distress Ink. 

I adhered the hexagons onto a US A2 sized white card base using thin foam tape. I then adhered the bear and chick/bird using foam tape also. For the sentiment, I die cut the coordinating die another two times from white cardstock and adhered them one on top of another for the dimension. It was then adhered to the hexagon. I added a few highlights to the bear with white gel pen and to finish off, I added a few Dew Drops.

Spellbinders | Grand Tropical Flamingos

Hello there and happy Saturday to you! I am here today to share a card I have made using the Spellbinders May 2024 Large Die of the Month Club Kit. It is called Grand Tropical Flamingos and you can see why! The kit has two flamingos plus lots of foliage and flowers.

I started off my card by die cutting the dies from the Spellbinders May 2024 Large Die of the Month Club Kit from various shades of cardstock. I die cut the flamingos from Spellbinders Fruit Punch, Snowdrift and Onyx Cardstock. I added ink blending to the flamingos using Altenew Cherry Blossom and Rose Petal Inks. They were then assembled using Bearly Art Glue. 

I die cut the foliage from Spellbinders Peridot and Rainforest Cardstock and added ink blending using Altenew Green Valley Fresh Dye Ink. I cut the flower petals from Spellbinders Purple Mist Cardstock and added ink blending to them using Altenew Enchanted Garden Fresh Dye Inks. For the centres, I cut them from Spellbinders Beeswax Cardstock and then added ink blending with Altenew Golden Sunset Fresh Dye Inks. 

The pieces were assembled with Bearly Art Glue. For the background, I took a panel of white cardstock and added ink blending to represent water at the bottom and a sunset at the top. I used Altenew Sweet Dreams Fresh Dye Inks for the water and Distress Inks in Squeezed Lemonade, Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade and Festive Berries for the sky. I adhered the flowers and foliage to the panel and then cut off the excess using Spellbinders Shears. 

The panel was then adhered to a US A2 sized white card base with tape runner adhesive. The flamingos were adhered using thin foam tape and Bearly Art Glue. I took the Spellbinders You Are Everything Sentiments Press Plate & Die Set and hot foiled it onto white cardstock using Spellbinders Silver Foil and the Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil System. It was die cut out and adhered to the card. To finish, I embellished with Spellbinders Silver Color Essentials Gems.

Altenew | May 2024 Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hello there, I am delighted to be joining Altenew today to celebrate the May 2024 release, which is out now! There are lots of lovely new products in this release and I am sharing a few of them with you today!

My first card uses the Altenew Mini Delight: Butterfly Dreams Stamp & Die Set. This is a fun set that consists of butterflies and sentiments in a stamp set and a bird cage in die form! I started off by stamping one of the butterflies from the set onto Altenew Vellum Translucent Paper using Altenew Embossing Ink. I applied Altenew Pure White Crisp Embossing Powder and heat set. It was then fussy cut out using scissors. 

I die cut the bird cage three times from white cardstock, as well as the leaves from the Altenew Craft-A-Flower: Dendrobium Orchid Layering Die Set. I adhered the bird cage die cuts together, one on top of another, and then added ink blending on top using Altenew Crystal Violet Fresh Dye Ink. For the leaves, I added ink blending with Altenew Green Valley Fresh Dye Inks. I took a panel of white cardstock and added ink blending to it with Altenew Blue Mountains Fresh Dye Inks, Navy Fresh Dye Ink and Jet Black Fresh Dye Ink (just around the edges). 

I then mixed a combination of silver and gold watercolours from the Altenew Metallic Watercolor 14 Pan Set and splattered them onto the panel. I added gold thread through the top of the bird cage and then adhered it to the panel, popping the leaves underneath before the glue dried. I secured the thread at the back and then adhered it to a US A2 sized white card base with Glue Tape. The butterfly was adhered on top with a tiny amount of liquid glue, followed by Altenew Antique Gold Sequins. The sentiment from the set was heat embossed in white onto cardstock that was inked with the same colours of ink as the background. 

My next card uses the beautiful Altenew Craft-A-Flower: Gardenia Layering Die Set. I die cut the petals and leaves from white cardstock and then placed them on my Sticky Mat to add ink blending. I used Altenew Enchanted Garden Fresh Dye Inks for the petals and Altenew Green Valley Fresh Dye Inks for the leaves. 

I die cut a panel of black cardstock with the new Altenew PixelGrid Cover Plate. Keeping the inside pieces intact, I adhered it to a US A2 sized black card base with Glue Tape and a little liquid glue. The Gardenia leaves were adhered on top, followed by the flowers using Altenew Instant Dimension Foam Tape. 

I stamped a sentiment from the Altenew Soft Blossoms Stamp Set onto black cardstock using Altenew Embossing Ink. I applied Altenew Pure Crisp White Embossing Powder and heat set. It was cut into a strip and adhered to the card with more foam tape. To finish off, I embellished with Altenew Crystal Clear Gem Sparkles. 

Also releasing this month are gorgeous new Artsy Aprons! There are lots of colours/designs available but I opted for Pink & Aqua Billowing Peonies. As you can see, it matches my craft room! :)

Hero Arts | My Monthly Hero May 2024 Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

My first card today uses the Hero Arts May 2024 My Monthly Hero Classic Kit. I started off by stamping the cake, cake stand and candles from the Floral Cake Stamp Set that is in the kit onto white cardstock using Hero Arts Intens-ified Black Ink. I coloured them using Copic Markers and then die cut them out using the coordinating dies. 

I took a panel of white cardstock and masked off the sides and bottom edges. I took a Hero Arts Large Ink Blending Brush and blended Hero Arts Orchid and Amethyst Core Inks inside, fading up to the white of the cardstock at the top. I removed the masks/tape and adhered the panel onto a US A2 sized white card base with tape runner adhesive. 

I adhered the candles and stand to the cake (using Precision Glue) and then adhered it all to the card using thin foam tape. I stamped a sentiment from the stamp set onto white cardstock using Hero Arts Intens-ified Black Ink and then die cut it out with the coordinating die. I also cut the die another two times from white cardstock. The die cuts were adhered one on top of another (for dimension) and then adhered onto the card. To finish off, I added Hero Arts Clear Lacquer Pen to the flames on the candles.

My next project uses some of the add-on products from this month's release. I started off by taking a panel of Hero Arts Luxe White Watercolor Paper (there is some in the MMH kit) and cut it using the largest of the Hero Arts Tag Infinity Dies. I then spritzed the tag using Hero Arts Royal Purple + Gold and Ocean Blue + Gold Two-Tone Metallic Sprays. I dried the tag with my heat tool before moving on to the next step. 

I placed the Hero Arts Dancing Lines Stencil on top and applied Hero Paste Glitter using the Hero Arts Palette Knife. I removed the stencil and set it aside to dry. Once dry, I added a little Hero Arts Grape Juice and Bermuda Core Inks to the corners. I then splattered on Hero Arts Gold Hero Wax (mixed with a little water). I die cut the larger of the two Hero Arts Delicate Butterfly Fancy Dies from white cardstock. It was adhered to the tag using thin foam tape.

I then took a sentiment from the Hero Arts Your Day Messages Stamp Set and stamped it onto Hero Arts Pitch Black Cardstock using Hero Arts Clear Embossing & Watermark Ink. I applied Hero Arts White Detail Embossing Powder and heat set before cutting into a strip and adhering to the tag with more foam tape. To finish off, I added twine through the top of the tag and tied in a double bow. 

This tag was inspired by the amazing work of Natasha Vacca. Natasha is the queen of mixed media! Whilst it isn't something I personally do very often, I swoon over her work on a daily basis!
