Lots of Lovely Pressies!

I hope everyone had a good Christmas. I had a nice family Christmas and got lots of lovely pressies. Here are some of my crafty ones:

In the photo is 2 gorgeous PB stamps, Nestabilities in Circles and Squares, 2 packets of gem stones in pink and green, some DST and 3D foam pads and a Craft Mates storage case. I also got some photo anchors and brads which are not in the photo as I have already put them away. I also got some money from my Nan & Grandad so with that I have ordered a Xyron A4 Creative Station - YAY! Can't wait for that to arrive! I hope to have a play with them all soon but I start placement on Monday so not sure when I will. I hope you all have a good New Year and speak to you soon! :0)

A Doodlebug Christmas

I have to say, I would NOT recommend anyone making one of these! I do like the finished result as a little craft project but it took a long time to make - mainly becuase the templates that come with the house don't actually fit which is a shame so I had to kind of make my own thing up. Never mind, it is finished in the end. It is not perfect but I am still happy with it.

This is will probably be my last post until into the New Year. I start my next nursing placement on 31st December but I hope to have better hours this time around.

I would like to wish all my readers a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Christmas Gift Card Holders

Shhh, don't tell them but I have made these little gift card holders for my Dad and my Sister-in-law for the gift cards that I have bought them for Christmas. I have followed the instructions by SCS's No Time To Stamp. The blue one for my dad has been made with blue card, white Doodlebug brads, Pebbles Inc paper, Penny Black duck stamp and a Craftwork Cards message. The pink one for my Sister-in-law has been made with pink Doodlebug card, Winter Wonderland paper (from Craftwork Cards), Papermania gem brads, Organza ribbon, Penguin stamp by High Hopes, Nestabilities dies and another Craftwork Cards message. Both gift card holders have been made by using the flap to secure the card shut with mini magnets by Basic Grey. I have shown you the inside of the card as well for you to see.

Christmas Treats

I have made these little treat bags for my Aunt to give to her tomorrow as we are all going round there for Christmas dinner. The small one is filled with shortcake biscuits and the larger one with chocolate florintines. The bags are by Papertrey ink and have a wax coating in them so they are perfect for biscuits and sweets. I have simply added a label to them by running some card through my printer for the greeting then cutting them out using my Nestabilities dies. The little A Muse snowflake has been stamped with chalk ink then a tiny gem stone added to the centres. I hope she likes them!

Penguin Games

This card is made for my mum. I know purple isn't a traditional festive colour but it is my mum's favourite colour. I have stamped 'Penguin Games' in Stazon and coloured using watercolour pencils and added ultrafine glitter to their hats. Mounted on to Gumdrop card and added to base. The layout for the base has been CASEd from this gorgeous card by Kimmie over at Kraftin' Kimmie's Korner. the front of the card has been cut out to leave just the bottom half to which a layer of Fairy Dust CS has been embossed using the my snowflakes embossing folder and mounted to more Gumdrop CS. Message oval has been swiped with ink around the edges and added to the front with 3D foam. The inside has been made by layering up gorgeous snowflake paper on to Gumdrop card with organza ribbon wrapped around. 3 small gem stones have been added to the right and a glittery poinsettia added to the left with another gem stone.

This card has been made for my brother and sister-in-law. Now I have given it to them I can show you it! The image has kindly been sent to me by Ruth (thank you Ruth!) and I have coloured the snowmen in with watercolour pencils and added ultrafine glitter in places. Mounted to sugar coated CS and 3D foamed to base. The base has been made by layering up Sprinkles paper on to the card blank then added a panel of CS that has been embossed using my snowflakes embossing folder. Sentiment is a rub on onto more CS then corners rounded on one side using a punch. I have punched out a snowflake with sugar coated card and attached with a tiny gem stone in the centre.

Happy 40th Birthday

This card is made for my mum to give to her work colleague. This design has been inspired by a card I saw in the latest eddition of Papercraft Inspirations magazine. I have added paper to the top half of the card and warpped pink organza ribbon around where the paper meets the card, I have added a die cut tag with the 40 on it and tied this on to the ribbon with a bow. The 40 has been cut using the Britannia alphabet set by QuicKutz on to some pink card. Rub-on greeting added to finish. Simple but elegant I hope!

Pink Snowy

This card is made for my crafting friend Ruth. I know she loves snowmen and pink so I had to go with this design! Apologies for the dark picture. Snowy has been stamped then coloured with watercolour pencils and glitter addded to his hat. I have mounted him up on to Bazzill Bling card and rounded the corners using a punch. He has then been added to the card base with 3D foam to make a tent topper card. I thought this was appropraite as Ruth was the one who got me into making tent topper cards in the first place! The base has been made by running some more Bazzill Bling through my Cuttlebug using the snowflakes embossing folder and also rounding the bottom two corners. I sent this card 2 days ago so I hope you have it by now! Thank you for all your support over the last year Ruth :0)

Christmas Crafting Buddies

This card has been sent to some crafting buddies of mine who have given me a lot of support since starting my blog so I wanted to say a little thank you to them. I hope they have them by now as they were sent 2 days ago! This card is inspired by a gorgeous card made by Katie at Listen to This. I have embossed the little house design out using the cuttlebug folder on to white card and coloured in using pencils. I have added glitter to the circle. This has been mounted onto red card and ribbon added around. 'Merry Christmas' is a white peel off also mounted on to red.

I would also like to take this opportunity to wish all of my readers a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, I have really appreciated your support these last 4 months. As this is a busy time of year, I will do my blog candy after Christmas.

Christmas Mice

I made these cards a little while ago but as I am trying to get my Christmas cards made at the moment, I thought now would be a good time for me to post them. I really like this little mouse, I think it is open to lots of different colour schemes. I usuallky pick one each year e.g. red, gold and green or blue and silver but this year I thought I would go with whatever I felt like for individual cards. Both these cards have been made using the same products. I have stamped 'Thinking of You' with Stazon ink and then coloured using watercolour pencils and a waterbrush with glitter added to the hats. Corners rounded with corner rounder punch and matted to Lilac card. These have then been 3D foamed to bases. The bases have been made using Lilac card and 'Sprinkles' paper. Crystals have been added using Anita's Tacky Glue. The sentiment on the first card is a stamp and the second one a rub-on.

Get Well Tilda

Sue sent me this gorgeous Tilda image last week and I couldn't resist any further, she needed some colour! Tilda was stamped on to textured card which is something I have never thought of doing before but I think it is really effective. She has been coloured using watercolour pencils and mounted to 'Lilac' card then 'Gumdrop', this has then been 3D foamed to the base. The base has been made from 'Gumdrop' card with the new Doodlebug paper 'Lilac Velvet' (Yay! it eventually arrived!) on top. 'Get Well' has been die cut also from 'Gumdrop' and adhered with a Quickie Glue Pen. Prima Flowers (with brads in the centres) added to the image panel. Brads also added to the top and bottom of the card. A BIG thank you to Sue for the image. This card has been inspired by a great stamper over on SCS called Inge. With Gratitude

This card was made to say a big thank you to Sue, who sent me some lovely stamped images last week. I used my Nestabilities dies again for the sentiment panel which was mounted using 3D foam pads. Maya Road flower has been coloured using the same chalk ink as the sentiment was stamped. This was then attached with a Prima Flower and large brad. This design was inspired by a lovely card by Nichole Heady, unfortunately it didn't come out as planned but I am happy to have found out that this is Sue's favourite colour :0) Sorry the photo is so dark but I didn't get the card finished until late.

Nestabilities Dies and the Cuttlebug

I have had quite a few people ask me about the Nestabilities dies so thought I would add a bit here about them. First of all they come in 4 different shapes: square, rectangle, oval and circle. They come in both classic shape and scalloped and in two sizes: small and large. They are designed so that you can also add an embossed edge to the shape if you wish. You can use the shapes alone or together; depending on what look you are after you can use the small classics with the small scallops or the small classics with the large scallops. I only have the the small with the small as this is the look I have gone for. This also lowers the cost of buying them! Please see some of my cards below for the finished result.

I am only able to expalin how to use them in the Cuttlebug as I only use this machine. (I also have the Sizzix Sidekick but have not tried the Nestabilities in it yet). To use the dies in the Cuttlebug you need the following: the Cuttlebug, Nestabilities dies, Spacer Plate A, Cutting Plate C, 2 Cutting Plate B's, the tan mat from the Wizard Embossing Kit and 3 pieces of card the same size as the mat.

Here are the sandwiches you need:
For cutting, bottom to top:

Spacer Plate A
Cutting Plate C
Nestabilities die
Card with pattern/texture facing downwards
Cutting Plate B

If you want the embossed edge you need to then run it through again using the sandwhich below:

Spacer Plate A
Cutting Plate B
Nestabilties die with card still in
3 pieces of thick card
Wizard tan mat
Cutting Plate B

The embossing works best if using fairly thick card and also non textured card. I haven't been able to play around using different cardstocks yet. I really like these dies, they are good value for money and give a neat clean finish. I love that they can emboss too. You can actually emboss without cutting the die out but I haven't had a chance to do this yet. Please see Nichole Heady's blog for details. She has done a really great section on using the dies and using different machines too. The only slight problem I have come accross with these dies is that some of the metal comes off onto the sides of the die cut but this is minimal and can be scraped off. This should stop after the dies have been used a few times.

For You

This is a little card that I sent to Jules (Julie's Japes) accompanying some stamped images. The sentiment has been stamped using chalk ink and cut out using my Nestabilities dies again. I really like these dies they are really easy to use. I have attched some organza ribbon accross a small linen card blank using my Xyron machine and 3D foamed the sentiment panel on top. 3 small Prima Flowers added to the bottom right hand corner with gems stones added to the centres.

Here's One I Made Earlier

I am still not feeling too well unfortunately so here is a card I made last week. Thank you all very much for leaving get well soon messages for me, they are really appreciated. This card has been inspired by a very talented card maker in the US called Rhonda Maynard (Crafty Blessings). I have stamped the spiral flower with dark green chalk ink onto 'Lagoon' card and added a small gem stone to each centre. This has then been mounted to 'Aqua' card and attached to card blank over some organza ribbon. Sentiment has been stamped using the same ink as the flower and cut out using my Nestabilities dies. A scalloped mat has also been cut using 'Aqua' card stock this has been mounted to card using 3D foam pads. Simple but effective I hope. Oh by the way the card is straight IRL, I am not sure why the photo came out wonky! You may have noticed my new watermark, I have one for cards I add to Do Crafts and SCS but don't like it that much so I am working on a new one.

Cosmo Bella

I have been lucky enough to have yesterday and today off so I have been able to make a few cards :0) It does mean that I have to work at the weekend though! I have had this Bella for quite a while but this is the first time I have inked her up. I liked the layout so much for the baby card that I have made this one the same. I have masked off Bella's feet and used chalk for her grounding then coloured her in using Whispers brush markers and Copics. I have coloured in the glass contents using a Stardust pen. I have then cut and embossed her out using my Nestabilities dies and mounted up with 3D foam. The card blank has been layered up using purple and white card with ribbon wrapped around the final piece. Sentiment stamped in the corner using chalk ink. The bottom corner has been rounded using a corner rounder punch.

Happy Halloween

We don't really celebrate Halloween over here in the UK that much but I still like to make a card every year for my mum. The layout has been inspired by Amy Rysavy. I have stamped the witch with Stazon ink then coloured using Whispers brush markers and a waterbrush. I have masked her feet then used chalk to make her ground. She is then mounted with orange card and 3D foam. The black panel is glittery card stock. A Bazzill Bitty Blossom and two Prima Flowers have been added to the top with brads. Sentiment also stamped with Stazon ink. Organza ribbon added accross the centre and attached with brads. Sorry the photo is a bit wonky, it is not in real life!

Thanks With Appreciation

My Papertrey goodies came last week (YAY!) so I have been having a quick play. This card is made for my crafting friend Ruth. First I stamped Papertrey's solid butterfly with Spring Pansy ink then stamped over the top with the dotty butterfly image in Pretty Pertunia; I then cut this out ready to mount. I ran a piece of Wisteria Bazzill CS through my Cuttlebug using the 'Bubbles' embossing folder and adhered to the card blank off centre. I punched out a scalloped square from Heather Bazzill CS then a square from Wisteria followed by a sqaure of white. I 3D foamed the squares to the scaolloped one and stamped the sentiment with Pretty Pertunia ink and paper pierced a trail for the butterfly. This was then all 3D foamed again to the card blank. The butterfly has been mounted using a small peice of DST down the spine so that the wings are still free. This card has been inspired by Amy Rysavy.

Cupcakes

I made this card a little while ago but haven't shared it here yet. I am going to send this to my younger cousin for her birthday. She is quite a girly girl so I hope she likes it! The little cupcakes with tiny gem stones have been stamped onto little scalloped circles then mounted to circles punched from pink card. Doodlebug paper attched to bottom of card with a strip of dark pink card accross the top with the cupcakes mounted on top with 3D foam. Sentiment stamped on card and corners rounded with small corner rounder punch.

You Make Me Smile & Tagged!

I have been awarded the You Make Me Smile award from Tara from Tarascards, Sue from Slumber Cards and Natty K from Crafting Fun, thank you ladies you have made my day! :0) I send it back to everyone on my links list at the side, I enjoy reading all your blogs!

I have also been tagged by Julie from Julie's Japes, so here goes:

1. If you could have 100.00 worth of scrapbook paper or assorted embellishments, which would you choose?

It is tough one but would probably choose the paper, I can't get enough of the stuff!

2. If you had to choose between using only stamps or rubons, which would you choose?

Stamps

3. If you knew how to do both awesome cards and layouts but could only do one for a whole year...which would you do?

Cards, I currently don't do scrapbooking and I can give the cards to my family and friends!

4. Would you rather own a scrapbooking store or have your own scrapping room at home?

I am fortunate to have a small craft room/study but I would like a BIG one!

5. And last but not least, what is your CURRENT cardmaking or scrapping style?

I would say simple-ish type cards with lots of Bazzill cardstock, stamping, die cutting, Prima Flowers and ribbon!!

I think everyone I know has been tagged but if you see this post and haven't been, considered yourself tagged by me!

Monkey Thanks

This card is made for my dad who kindly took me to see Mary Poppins the musical on Thursday. It was for my birthday which was in May but this was the first opportunity we could both go. It was supercalifragilisticexpialidocious! It was really really good! Anyway ... back to the card! 'Changito Pair' have been stamped then coloured using Whispers Brush Markers and a waterbrush and mounted to dark brown card. This has then been 3D mounted to light brown card which has been put through my Cuttlebug using the Spots and Dots embossing folder, this has then been mounted to dark brown card as well. Kitty had used the embossing folder on a card she had made with monkeys and I thought it looked really good! Message panel is a rub-on also mounted to brown card and 3D foamed. I hope he likes it!

Flowerfly

This card has been made for my crafting friend Katherine. I get worried when I make cards for crafty people as I know how great their cards are! I have stamped 'Flowerfly' with stazon ink and coloured using coloursoft pencils and added jewels to the centre for the body. I have mounted Flowerfly onto dark pink card and rounded the corners using an EK Success corner rounder punch. This has then been mounted to a panel of lighter pink card that has been put through my Cuttlebug using the D'vine Swirls embossing folder with 3D foam. The message has been coloured using chalk ink and then 3D mounted also.
