Artistry by Altenew | Watercolor Tubes Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hello there, I am delighted to be joining Artistry by Altenew today to celebrate the release of new watercolor tubes and paper. In case you did not know, Artistry by Altenew is the sister company to Altenew. They sell Altenew colouring mediums and tools.

Whilst these products are marketed towards fine art artists, I am predominantly a card maker (although I do dabble in fine art from time to time), so I made a card today. 

I started off by stamping the Altenew Gracious Peonies Stamp Set onto hot pressed watercolour paper (I did not have the new Altenew paper at the time of making my card, so I used my own) using Altenew Embossing Ink. I applied Hero Arts Satin Pearl Embossing Powder and heat set. 

I then took the new Artistry by Altenew Watercolor Tubes and added some of the paint onto a ceramic palette. Using a number 6 Artistry by Altenew Fine Watercolor Brush and water, I coloured the image. I used Artistry by Altenew Watercolor Tubes in Quinacridone Magenta and Quinacridone Violet for the flower petals and Phthalo Green and Dark Cyan for the leaves. 

The image was die cut out using the Altenew Gracious Peonies Die Set. I took a US A2 sized white card base and added ink blending on top with Altenew Rose Petal Crisp Dye Inks and an Altenew Small Ink Blending Tool. I then splattered Artistry by Altenew Titanium White on top. Once dry, the image was adhered on top with Altenew Instant Diemnsion Foam Tape and the excess cut off the sides. 

I stamped a sentiment from the Altenew Sentiment Strips Stamp Set onto black cardstock using Altenew Embossing Ink. I applied Altenew Pure White Crisp Embossing Powder and heat set. It was cut into strips and adhered to the card using more foam tape. To finish off, I added a few Bubbles embellishments. 

ARTISTRY BY ALTENEW WATERCOLOR TUBES

Artistry by Altenew have released 10 colours of watercolour tubes. These colours are labelled with the true pigment names (and numbers) and apart from a couple of colours, have excellent lightfast ratings. You can purchase them in various bundles, including the Palette Perfection Bundle (which is all the colours) or separately.  

I have swatched the colours below on Artistry by Altenew Hot Pressed Watercolor Paper. 

Whilst I am unable to give a proper review on these paints (since I haven't had them long enough to really test them out) I did want to share my first thoughts on them. These are marketed towards fine art artists, however personally, I think they are more suited to crafters. They have excellent transparency (apart from Titanium White which is opaque) which is perfect if you are colouring stamped images.

The colour selection is a little lacking in my opinion (and pretty vibrant/bright) but they are planning on releasing more colours in the future and they do mix well together, so you can create new colours fairly easily. 

The new products are currently exclusive to the Artistry by Altenew site at the moment, but I believe that will release on the Altenew site at some point.

Altenew | September 2023 Marvelous Monthly Series Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hello there, I am delighted to be joining Altenew today to celebrate the release of the September 2023 Marvelous Monthly Series with a fun blog hop. There are lots of products being released today like Build-A-Garden, Dynamic Duo, Mini Delight and much more! For my project today I am using Craft-A-Flower: Japanese Camellia.

I started off by die cutting the Altenew Craft-A-Flower: Japanese Camellia Layering Die Set from white cardstock. Using an Altenew Mini Blending Brush, I blended inks on top. I used Altenew Sweet Dreams Fresh Dye Inks for the flower petals, Altenew Golden Sunset Fresh Dye Inks for the flower centres and Altenew Frosted Foliage Fresh Dye Inks for the leaves. 

The flowers were then assembled and adhered using liquid glue. I took a US A2 sized white card base and cut off just over 1/4" from one side to accommodate the overhanging leaves. I then applied Altenew Dotted Washi Tape to the the bottom at an angle. The leaves were adhered on top first (to hide the edge of the washi tape) and then the flowers added on top. 

I took the sentiment from the Altenew Sincere Sentiments Stamp Set and stamped it onto black cardstock using Altenew Embossing Ink. I applied Altenew Pure White Crisp Embossing Powder and heat set. It was cut into a strip and adhered to the card using Altenew Instant Dimension Foam Tape.

VIDEO | SPOILER! Spellbinders 12 Days of Stitchmas Day 6

Hello there, today I have two cards to share with you using the Spellbinders 12 Days of Stitchmas Advent Calendar. If you do not want to see what is behind day 6 of the calendar, please do not scroll any further! I am also using the 12 days of Stitchmas Stitch Along Add-on Kit for my projects. So what is behind the door of day 6 on the Spellbinders 12 Days of Stitchmas 2023 Advent Calendar? A gift! The set of dies consist of the outside/base layer of the gift box, the stitching details for the gift box, the top of the gift box, ribbon and a bow. Not only can this gift box be used for Christmas and the holidays, it can be used all year round for birthdays and any other gift/present giving occasion, which is really cool! 

A LITTLE GIFT FOR YOU

I started off my first card by taking the gift die and die cutting the stitching layer twice, from Spellbinders Cosmic Sky Cardstock (from the Spellbinders 12 Days of Stitchmas Stitch Along Add-on Kit). They were adhered together using Bearly Art Glue for added stability. In my opinion, this makes stitching so much easier! For the stitching, I used the DMC needles and Gold Diamant Metallic Thread from the kit.

I secured the thread to the back of the piece using Spellbinders Best Ever Craft Tape. I adhered the gift topper piece, also cut from Cosmic Sky Cardstock twice, at the top and then adhered the backer piece behind using double sided tape, to hide the thread. I die cut the ribbon/bow twice from Spellbinders Brushed Gold Cardstock (also in the kit), adhered them together first (for added dimension) and then onto the gift.

I adhered the gift to a white 4 ¼” x 4 ¼” card base using thin foam tape. I hot foiled a sentiment from Spellbinders Glitter Wishes Glimmer Hot Foil Plate & Die Set onto white cardstock using Spellbinders Champagne Foil. It was cut into a strip and adhered to the card using foam tape. To finish off, I embellished with Spellbinders Gold Mix Color Essentials Gems.

I thought this card would work well as a gift card/money holder. Perfect for the holidays, but also for birthdays and other occasions too!

SEASON FILLED WITH JOY

For my second card, I wanted to keep to the same colour palette, but reversed! I die cut the gift from Spellbinders Snowdrift Cardstock (in the kit) twice and adhered them together. For the stitching this time, I used the Variegated 121 Delft Blue Floss from the kit. I focussed on the darker shades (the darkest blue and slightly lighter blue) of the floss to really make it pop from the white.

I separated the floss to three strands thick and stitched the gift so that the darker of the floss was in the top left and bottom right, and the slightly lighter shade was in the bottom left and top right. I adhered the gift together as per the first card but left off the bow at this point. I wanted to add some foliage from the Spellbinders Snowflake Card Creator Etched Dies behind for a more Christmassy look!

I die cut the branches from vellum and the holly leaves from Brushed Gold Cardstock. For the card base, I hot foiled a sentiment from Spellbinders A Merry Little Christmas Sentiments Glimmer Hot Foil Plate onto Spellbinders Cosmic Sky Cardstock using Spellbinders Champagne Foil. I added ink blending around the edges using Spellbinders Betterpress Inks (Cosmic Sky and Letterpress Black) before adhering to a US A2 sized card base made from Cosmic Sky Cardstock. The gift was adhered on top using thin foam tape and the foliage adhered with Bearly Art Glue. To finish, I embellished with Spellbinders Gold Mix Color Essentials Gems.

Alex Syberia Designs | Bokeh Balloons

Hello there, today I have a card to share with you using another new product from the Alex Syberia Designs September 2023 release. I shared my other projects HERE if you missed them. Today I am using the Bokeh Balloons Stencil which can be used in so many different ways, but I thought I would create a galaxy sky type look for my card today.

I started off with a panel of Tim Holtz Distress White Heavystock and added blobs of ink blending on top, in a random way, with Tim Holtz Distress Inks in Wilted Violet, Mermaid Lagoon and Picked Raspberry. I then went over the panel with Tim Holtz Black Soot Distress Ink, trying not to cover too much of the colours. 

I placed the Alex Syberia Designs Bokeh Balloon Stencil on top and added ink blending inside the balloons using Hero Arts Unicorn White Pigment Ink. I did this a few times with the different sizes of balloons to cover the panel. I then splattered on some water, followed by Dr. Ph. Martin's Bleed Proof White Paint and set it aside. 

I die cut the letters from the Alex Syberia Designs Foxtrot Alphabet Die Set three times and stacked them up one on top of another (for dimension) before adhering to the panel. The panel was then adhered to a US A2 sized white card base with thin foam tape.

VIDEO | MFT Long Walk with a Best Friend

Hello there, I am over on the My Favorite Things YouTube channel today, sharing a simple scene card using the YUZU Long Walk with a Best Friend set.

I started off my card by stamping the girl and dog from the MFT Long Walk with a Best Friend Stamp Set onto white cardstock using black ink. I then took another panel of white cardstock, this time 3.75" x 5" and stamped the sentiment at the bottom and then the greenery/bushes from the set above. 

I stamped one either side, made a mask for them from masking paper, cut them out and placed them on top. I then stamped another one in the middle. I made a mask for that one too and then using an ink blending brush, blended a little Tim Holtz Mermaid Lagoon Distress Ink above, to create a subtle sky. The masks were then removed. 

I coloured the images using Copic Markers (the colours that I used are listed below the supplies area for reference) and then adhered the panel onto an A2 card base made from MFT Grape Jelly Cardstock. The girl and dog were die cut out using the MFT Long Walk with a Best Friend Die-namics and adhered on top with thin foam tape. To finish off, I added Crystal Glaze to the dogs nose and embellished with a few Bubbles.

12 DAYS OF STITCHMAS ADVENT CALENDAR

The Spellbinders 12 Days of Stitchmas 2023 Advent Calendar contains 12 sets of dies that are perfect for stitching, however, they can be used without stitching too! The advent calendar isn't necessarily meant to be used like a normal advent calendar in the lead up to Christmas but more of a 12 days of projects that you can make for Christmas.

Each set of dies has a Christmas/holiday theme to it that you can add to cards, tags and ornaments for the Christmas season. Whilst this is more of an investment money wise, you do get 12 sets of dies (each set has multiple dies), so it does work out well for the price. 

12 DAYS OF STITCHMAS STITCH ALONG KIT

There is also the Spellbinders 12 Days of Stitchmas Stitch Along Add-on Kit, which has been made to use with the advent calendar (I am a teacher in the Spellbinders Advent Calendar Class and we all use the kit for our projects) but you can also use it on it's own with any other stitching. 

It contains lots of floss, thread, gems, needles, a needle minder, needle threader, foam squares, a bobbin stamp & die set and also loads of 8.5" x 11" sheets of cardstock. It all comes in a reusable pouch too! I was surprised with how much is in the kit, I think it is great value for money.

Spellbinders | Envelope of Wonder

Hello there, I fell in love with this Envelope of Wonder release from Spellbinders as soon as I saw it! The opportunities with this set are fabulous - use with the envelope or without and there are a few ways to make them into a cards too - make the whole envelope a card, add a card on to the back of the envelope or add the envelope onto a card base! You can also just use the envelope as an actual envelope too!

I went down the route of making a smaller rectangular shape card and adding it to the back of the envelope. Since you die cut the pieces for the envelope separately, you need to score the pieces and adhere them to the back piece. I opted to adhere them to the inside, rather than the outside, so that they did not show on the back. 

The first card uses the Spellbinders Envelope of Wonder Etched Dies. I created the envelope from white cardstock as above and then die cut all the flowers and leaves from Spellbinders Cardstock and Hero Arts Ultra Pink Cardstock. The flowers were assembled and adhered together using Bearly Art Glue. 

I first added the leaves and flowers to the back of the two sides and then arranged the ones at the front on top. The flowers were adhered with thin foam tape and the leaves with Bearly Art Glue. I wanted to keep a lot of the envelope showing, so I focussed on the two sides, rather than the middle. 

I took the sentiment from the Spellbinders Sentiments of Wonder Betterpress Plate & Die Set and pressed onto Spellbinders Porcelain Betterpress Card with Spellbinders Betterpress Black Ink and the Spellbinders Betterpress Letterpress System. It was cut out using the die in the Spellbinders Envelope of Wonder Etched Dies Set. I added twine through the tag shape and adhered it to the card with thin foam tape. To finish off, I added a few Spellbinders Silver Mix Color Essentials Gems. 

For my next card, I used the envelope from the Spellbinders Envelope of Wonder Etched Dies but decorated it with the Spellbinders Christmas Envelope of Wonder Etched Dies. I die cut the elements from Spellbinders Cardstock, Hero Arts Peony Cardstock and PTI Kraft Cardstock. 

The pieces were assembled and adhered using Bearly Art Glue. I then arranged them inside the envelope, adhering with a combination of Bearly Art Glue and thin foam tape. This time, I added more elements overlapping the bottom of the inside of the envelope to look like they are bursting out!

The sentiment from the Spellbinders Sentiments of Wonder Betterpress Plate & Die Set was pressed like the sentiment above, but this time, I die cut it out using the coordinating dies. I also die cut the die another two times from white cardstock and stacked them up for dimension. To finish off, I embellished with Spellbinders Pink Color Essentials Gems.

Hero Arts | Hello There

Hello there, I hope you are well. I am over on the Hero Arts Blog today, sharing a card using the new Ginkgo Leaves Pattern Bold Prints that was released as part of the September 2023 My Monthly Hero release. Whilst Ginkgo leaves usually turn yellow in the autumn, I decided to go with a more warm autumnal colour palette for my card today.

Hero Arts Ginkgo Pattern Bold Prints was stamped onto watercolour paper using Hero Clear Embossing & Watermark Ink. I applied Hero Arts Gold Embossing Powder and heat set. I then sprayed on Hero Arts Red + Shimmer Tone-on-Tone Metallic Spray, Orange + Shimmer Tone-on-Tone Metallic Spray and Bright Yellow + Copper Two-Tone Metallic Spray. 

The sentiment from Hero Arts Hello There Stamp & Cut was die cut from Hero Arts Pitch Black Cardstock and I added a little heart on top using a scrap of the background. The panel was then adhered to a US A2 sized black card base with thin foam tape.

Alex Syberia Designs | One Year Anniversary Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hello there, I am delighted to be joining Alex Syberia Designs today to celebrate their one year anniversary. I cannot believe it has been a year already since the first release! Today I have a card and tag to share with you using some products from the September 2023 release.

My projects are based around the new Thin Stripes Cover Die. This can be used to die cut a coordinating stamp set, or used on it's own to create stripes. I decided to try a different colour scheme than I usually would and I really like how it turned out!

For the card, I started off by die cutting the Alex Syberia Designs Delicate Blooms Die Set from various shades of Concord & 9th Cardstock, as well as Hero Arts Peony Cardstock and Spellbinders Chamomile Cardstock. I created two larger flowers and one smaller. The leaves were die cut from Hero Arts Pitch Black Cardstock. 

The leaves were adhered to a panel of white cardstock first using Bearly Art Glue. The flowers were then assembled and adhered on top using thin foam tape. I took the Alex Syberia Designs Thin Stripes Cover Die and die cut it from Hero Arts Peony, C9 Dragonfruit, Spellbinders Chamomile, C9 Oceanside and C9 Peacock Cardstock. 

The stripes were adhered to the front of a US A2 sized white card base with Bearly Art Glue. The panel was adhered on top using thin foam tape. I stamped the Alex Syberia Designs Celebrations Sentiments Stamp Set onto Hero Arts Pitch Black Cardstock using Versamark Ink. I applied white embossing powder and heat set. It was cut out with the Alex Syberia Designs Thin Stripes Cover Die and adhered to the card with thin foam tape. To finish off, I added a few Bubbles embellishments. 

I had lots of stripes left over, so I thought I would make a coordinating tag. I die cut a tag from the Alex Syberia Designs Signature Tags Die Set from white cardstock. I then adhered the stripes on top and cut off the excess with scissors. 

I hot foiled the Alex Syberia Designs It's Your Birthday Hot Foil Plate & Die Set sentiment onto white cardstock using Spellbinders Black Glimmer Hot Foil and the Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil System. It was die cut out using the coordinating die. I cut the die another two times from white cardstock and adhered them together one on top of another for dimension, before adhering to the tag. To finish off, I added Spellbinders Black Twine through the top of the tag and tied in a bow.
