Spellbinders | 3D Egg

Hello there, today I have another felt plushie to share with you. I have really been enjoying making these! This one is the 3D Eggs and Flowers by Sandi MacIver for Spellbinders. The eggs can be decorated with the flowers but you can also add the flowers onto Fergus too! I decided to make the larger of the two eggs in the set but I am hoping to get time to make the smaller one at some point too!

I started off by die cutting the egg sides (four) and the base from the Spellbinders 3D Eggs & Flowers Etched Dies from Pansy felt from the Spellbinders Cool Merino Wool Felt Sheets Pack. I then used DMC Floss in 155 to sew it together. I followed Sandi's amazing video tutorial and before closing it up, I filled it.

I used polyester filling for the top part of the egg and plastic pellets for the bottom. These have some weight to them, so keep it standing upright. I then closed it up. Sandi uses crushed up walnuts (also known as lizard litter), but I couldn't find any of those!

I die cut the leaves and stems from Aquamarine felt from the Spellbinders Cool Merino Wool Felt Sheets Pack and added stitching to the leaves using DMC 958 floss. I adhered them to the egg first using hot glue. I die cut the daffodil petals from Snow felt from the Spellbinders Holiday Merino Wool Felt Sheets Pack (twice for each flower) and adhered them together, again using hot glue.

The centres were die cut from Beeswax felt from the Spellbinders Classic Pooh Merino Wool Felt Sheets Pack and rolled up (I found the Spellbinders Reverse Tweezers helpful for this) and adhered together using hot glue, before adhering to the centre of the flowers. The flower heads were then adhered to the egg using hot glue.

I really love how this turned out! It wasn't nearly as difficult to sew as I thought it would be, which is always a bonus! I'm looking forward to having it out on my shelf at Easter time. Thank you so much for stopping by today, I really do appreciate it. I hope you have a wonderful day and a great week ahead! Take care!
