Hero Arts | August 2023 My Monthly Hero Countdown to Creativity

Hello there and welcome as we countdown to the release of the Hero Arts August 2023 My Monthly Hero Kit. The kit (both Classic and Premium), as well as the add-on products release on Monday 7th August 2023. The theme this month is California/National Parks.

I have two cards to share with you today. Both the same design but a different colour way. I also added dimension on one and not the other. Just to see what I liked more! Both my cards feature elements from the Classic Kit only.

I started off the purple card by die cutting the tree Fancy Dies from the kit and die cutting it from three shades of purple cardstock - Passion Flower, Amethyst and Iris. I then die cut a Nesting Circle Infinity Die using Canary Cardstock

I took a panel of white cardstock and adhered the sun/moon first, using Precision Glue. I then added the layers of the trees, one by one, with thin foam tape. I tried to offset them a little and then cut off the excess from the sides. The panel was then adhered to a US A2 sized white card base with more thin foam tape - there is A LOT of dimension on this card!

For the blue one, I die cut the sun/moon from Canary Cardstock and adhered that on to a panel of white cardstock. I then die cut the same tree Fancy Die three times from shades of blue cardstock - Periwinkle, Lapis and Nautical. The layers were adhered to the panel flat using Precision Glue. The panel was then adhered to the card with thin foam tape.

For both cards, I stamped a sentiment from the kit stamp set on to Pitch Black Cardstock using Clear Embossing & Watermark Ink. I applied White Embossing Powder and heat set. They were cut into strips and adhered to the cards with more thin foam tape.

  2. Wonderful cards, Michelle. When I saw the cards on the HA blog, I actually thought they were layering dies. Love how you have offset the die cuts to achieve the layered look.

  5. I love your cards. I think the one with dimension is my favourite and I am not sure if it is because of the dimension or the colours which I really love. Can't wait to see the rest of this kit!

  24. I definitely like the one with the levels in the trees instead of just the panel. Great way to show two different ways but get two great cards out of them. Also depending if you handing it over to someone vs sending in the mail, might depend on the choice you make.

  25. Both cards are lovely, but I'm with you - I prefer the blue trees and the dimension of the purple trees! Off setting the trees was a great design idea as it gives the cards more depth.
