Simon Says Stamp | Jingle all the Way

Hello there, today I have a card to share with you using the new Simon Says Stamp Holiday Messages Ornament set which is out today as part of the new Peace on Earth release. I think you could use this set in lots of different ways, but I thought it might be fun to try and make it look like the ornament was glass or frosted glass instead of a colour.

I started off my card by taking a panel of Tim Holtz Distress White Heavystock and blended Distress Inks on top. I used Mermaid Lagoon in the centre, followed by Blueprint Sketch, Seedless Preserves and then Black Soot around the edges. I took the panel to my splat box and first splattered it with water and then with a generous helping of Sheer Shimmer Spritz and set it aside to dry.

Once dry, I stamped the circle ornament shape from the Simon Says Stamp Holiday Messages Ornament Stamp Set on top with Hero Arts Unicorn White Pigment Ink. This did take a little while to dry but once dry, it has a lovely transparency to it which is what I was looking for. Once dry, I stamped the sentiment from the set inside the circle, as well as the ornament topper using Versamark Ink.

I applied Hero Arts Silver Embossing Powder and heat set. I pierced a small hole below the ornament topper piece and threaded Altenew Metallic Thread through and secured at the back. I then threaded another piece behind and tied in a double bow at the front. The panel was adhered to an A2 white card base with foam tape.

I am not sure I completely achieved the whole glass ornament thing but I am happy with how the card came out. It is difficult to see in the photos but the card is so sparkly in real-life! I hope you will check out the rest of the fantastic release. Thanks so much for stopping by to see me today, I really appreciate it. See you later for an Altenew blog hop.

  1. I think it's a really cool effect with the white pigment ink. When I saw it on Instagram I thought it might have been vellum but it seemed like it was too sheer for vellum. I love how you achieved the look and think it definitely looks like frosted glass! And it looks so festive with all the blues, splatter and silver touches! Stunning card Michelle xx
