Hero Arts | May 2021 My Monthly Hero Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hello there and welcome as we celebrate the release of the Hero Arts May 2021 My Monthly Hero Kit and Add-ons. The kit this month has a wonderful ocean/underwater theme to it and I love all the sea creatures! If you haven't already seen it, you can see my countdown card here, which uses the Contour Ink that is in the kit for no-line colouring.

For the hop, you should have arrived here from the fabulous Maria but if you get lost along the way, I have the full list of participants below.

For my card today, I wanted to create a simple underwater scene with light rays coming through it. I started off by taking a panel of Bristol Smooth Cardstock and blending on inks. I used Hero Arts Navy Mid-Tone Shadow Ink at the bottom, followed by Hero Arts Blue Hawaii Reactive Ink in the middle and Hero Arts Splash Reactive Ink at the top. I then took the Hero Arts Sun Background Stencil and placed it over the panel. Because the stencil has a sun opening in the middle, I placed the lower half on the top of the panel and made sure not to put the ink too close to the bottom.

Using an ink blending tool, I pounced on Hero Arts Unicorn Pigment Ink. Using the rays that I had made with the stencil as a guide, I extended them further with Post-It Tape. I blended more ink inside the Post-It Tape lines to extend the rays further down the panel. I then splattered on loads of Hero Arts White Iridescent Shimmer Mist and let it sit to dry. I took the large coral image from the main kit stamp set and stamped it on to Hero Arts Vellum Layering Paper with Hero Arts Clear Embossing & Watermark Ink

It was heat set and then I added Stick It Adhesive Sheet to the back of the vellum before die cutting it out with the coordinating Frame Cut. It was adhered to the panel and then the panel adhered to an A2 white card base. I took the fish from the stamp set and stamped them on to white cardstock with Hero Arts Intens-ified Black Ink (there is a cube included in the kit). They were coloured with Copic Markers, die cut out and added to the card with foam tape. I then white heat embossed the sentiment on to Pitch Black Cardstock, cut it in to a trip and added that to the card with foam tape also. To finish off, I added a few Hero Arts Clear Enamel Dots
