Positive & Negative Die Cuts

Hello there, today I have two cards to share using the new Simon Says Stamp Windows To My Heart die from the You Are Loved release, which came out on Tuesday. It is such a beautiful die and great for using both the positive and negative of it.

I started off by die cutting a panel of white cardstock with the Windows To My Heart die. I then set this over an A2 white card base and drew faint lines with a pencil to where I needed to add the ink blending. I masked off the edges of the panel and erased the pencil lines and then blended over Wilted Violet Distress Ink. I tried to keep a darker concentration of colour towards the bottom and lighter at the top. I removed the masks and then adhered the heart window panel on top with foam tape.

I die cut the happy from the Painted Happy Birthday die three times from white cardstock and layered them together with liquid glue. This was added to the card with a combination of liquid glue and foam tape. I then took the anniversary sentiment from the Happy stamp set and stamped this on to black cardstock with Versamark Ink. I applied white embossing powder and heat set. This was then cut out using one of the banners from the Nested Banners die set and added to the card with foam tape. To finish off, I added a few Raindrops.

My next card uses the hearts that were cut from the panel. I thought a rainbow would work perfectly for them so I blended Distress Inks on to each of them in rainbow colours, I used Worn Lipstick for the red, Dried Marigold for the orange, Squeezed Lemonade for the yellow, Twisted Citron and Mowed Lawn for the green, Broken China for the blue and Wilted Violet for the purple.

These were adhered to an A2 white card base with foam tape. I took the sentiment from the Sending and Wishing stamp set, masked off the 'you' and stamped the rest in Versamark Ink. I applied white embossing powder and heat set. This was then cut out using the same banner die from the Nested Banners set and added to the green heart with foam tape.

  2. Brilliant use of the die to make two cards. LOVE the rainbow hearts - that is just perfect. How did you colour those without getting really inky fingers? xx
