Anniversary Hearts

Hello there, today I have a card to share that I made for my brother and sister-in-law's wedding anniversary. They have been married for 10 years this year and I have to admit, I am running out of ideas for their cards now! ;) I decided to use the negative painting technique with some hearts.

I started off with a piece of Arches Cold Press watercolour paper. I then drew on some hearts with a watercolour pencil. The panel was spritzed with water and then I dropped in various shades of red, pink and purple watercolours (colours in supplies section). I focussed most of the colour outside of the hearts so that they showed up. Once dry, the panel was cut down.

I took the sentiment from the Clearly Besotted Round Roses set (this set is retired from CB but you can still get it at SSS while stocks last). This was stamped in black ink on to a piece of white cardstock and cut out. I took a piece of black cardstock and ran this through my Cuttlebug with the PTI Woodgrain Impression Plate. This was adhered to the front of an A2 black card base with ATG. I then added the watercolour panel on top with foam tape. The sentiment piece was also adhered with foam tape. To finish off, I added a few Hero Arts smooth gems (these are sadly discontinued but similar to the PPP droplets).

One thing I have noticed is that there are not many stamp companies that have anniversary sentiments in their sets. Do people not send many anniversary cards these days? Thanks so much for visiting me today. I hope you have a great weekend!

  1. Beautiful card Michelle - still CAS but very dramatic. No, I don't think people do send many anniversary cards - maybe people don't stay married long enough?!

  4. Beautiful Anniversary card, Michelle! Don't know about others but I'm still sending out Anniversary cards :) I have several stamp sets that come from Papertrey Ink. They have sets that are strictly sentiments and other sets that combine wedding and anniversary images with sentiments.

  7. It's gorgeous Michelle - I have purchased this class from OCC, but have yet to start it. Really looking forward to learning this technique. I love the look of the hearts and that woodgrain background is perfect. And I never knew you could get a watercolour pencil... that's another for my list then! xx

  8. Striking card Michelle! I still send anniversary cards and receive the odd one or two and with it being our anniversary on Friday (18yrs married - together for 27) we mostly received posts on Facebook!

    Big hugs
