Spellbinders | Holiday Poinsettia

Hello there, today I have a card to share with you using the Poinsettia Etched Dies from Susan's Holiday Flora Collection from Spellbinders. This is the first time I have used a flower die from Susan's collections. They are beautiful dies that are made so that you can assemble flowers to look very realistic. I went a little less realistic on my card, but you can follow video tutorials from her, so that you know how to assemble the flowers.

I started off by die cutting the largest of the Spellbinders Poinsettia Etched Dies from Spellbinders Rainforest Cardstock, twice. I then cut it another two times from Spellbinders Wild Berry Cardstock. The smaller petals were cut from Spellbinders Dahlia Cardstock (just once). There is a centre part of the flower but I did not use it on my card. With all of the pieces, I added shading to them using Distress Inks.

Using the Spellbinders Tool N' One, I scored lines on the petals and then folded up the sides of the petals to give more dimension. I took the Spellbinders Woodland Wreath and Feathered Friends Etched Dies and cut the wreath from Spellbinders Portobello Cardstock. I blended Distress Ink on to it too and then added it to an A2 white card base with Bearly Art Glue, letting the top overhang but cutting off the side. The poinsettia was then adhered layer by layer on top.

I took the sentiment from the Spellbinders Mini Christmas Sentiment Strips Glimmer Hot Foil Plate & Die Set and foiled the 'merry christmas' on to black cardstock with Spellbinders Champagne Foil. It was cut out with the die and added to the card with foam squares. To finish off, I added Spellbinders Gold Mix Color Essential Gems to the wreath and centre of the poinsettia.

There are lots of other florals in the collection but I have always loved poinsettias, especially the white ones. Thank you so much for stopping by to see me today, I really do appreciate it. I hope you have a wonderful day and a fantastic weekend!

  1. Stunning, just absolutely stunning. When I saw this over on instagram I literally gasped. It is just so so pretty with all the different layers on the poinsettia and leaves but what I love is the layout with the woodland wreath die cut. And I also love how you scored the petals so that they don't sit flat. And I love the little gems in the middle! I would be very happy if this was my Christmas card this year haha (hint hint)! xxx
