Do Crafts Challenge (30/08/07)

This is another card made for the Do Crafts Challenges that are going on over on the Card Making Forum. This challenge was to make a card without the use of cutting or blades (including scissors, guilotines, punches, die cuts etc). I really wasn't sure about this one to start with but I'm really glad I achieved it in the end. I have used the bottom of a peice of sparkly vellum and have torn it in half and torn the top to meet the desired size whilst keeping the already straight sides then stuck to the card. I then added Doodlebug stickers and peel off greeting.

Lola Rose

This card was made for my Mum to give to my SIL Kerry. This image is Lola Rose from Pink Petticoat. We chose this particular Lola Rose image because we thought it looked like Kerry so it suited her perfectly! I colured her in using watercolour pencils and mounted onto purple card. The sentiment is also from Pink Petticoat which was popped behind some grosgrain ribbon.

Triangle Trifold Card

This card was made for my SIL Kerry. The triangle panels have been embossed using the Stylized Flowers Cuttlebug embossing folder. The butterfly is a QuicKutz die mounted on to a punched circle and scallop circle. The ribbon behind is only partly stuck to the back of the butterfly panel so that when you untie the ribbon the card folds open. It is quite difficult to explain but hopefully the pictures will show it a little better! The first picture is when it is closed up (I included a card stand with it so that it can be displayed properly) and the second picture is when it is open. I made the card following instructions on the SCS website which can be seen here.

Do Crafts Challenge (29/08/07)

This is another card made for a challnege over on the Do Crafts Card Making Forum. The challenge was to make a card without using any adhesive (including stickers, peel offs etc). I embossed the light pink panel with a Sizzix Texture Plate and layered onto dark pink card and attached to card blank using brads. Ribbon wrapped around embossed panel and greeting panel attched to it using an eyelet.

Birthday Wishes

I have just discovered the Kids and Baby Dovecraft Designer Paper Packs! I had bought some of the other decorative type papers but after seeing some lovely cards in the Do Crafts members gallery made with these I feel in love with them! They are so cute! Here are two cards I have made with a sheet from the Kids collection. I have decoupaged the hippo, mouse and star and have added some Stickles coming off of the wand. These are also in the tent topper style (see below post for details on how to make them). The sentiment is printed from my PC.

Tent Topper Cards

After seeing loads of lovely 'tent topper' cards I decided I would give it a go myself. After getting some guidance and sizes from my friend Ruth, (thank you Ruth!) here is my creation. The card is 4.25" square with the fold at the top to make a tent shape then you add the topper. The card fits into a standard C6 envelope as long as you don't make the topper too big! I have made this card quite siimple for my first try. The topper part is 'Gift Bear' stamped and coloured with watercolour pencils, punched out and then mounted to another circle with 3D foam pads plus a scallop circle. The message is made using my Karen Foster Snap Stamps.. I can't believe that KF has discontinued these! Especially when I didn't manage to to get the small casual set that I wanted! News on the grapevine is that KF are going to make some more of these for 2008 as they have grown increasingly popular :0) (Someone has just spotted that I missed the 'h' out of birthday in the sentiment! Ooops! I will get that sorted!)

Under the Weather?

This card was inspired by two really great card makers over on the Split Coast Stampers A Muse Addicts Club. However, I knew even before I got 'Seattle Girl' that I wanted her to be in a scalloped square! I have coloured in 'Seattle Girl' using watercolour pencils but next time I think it will look better with brush markers and I'll stick to using watercolours on Penny Blacks. Ironically here in the UK we have been under the weather (dark and rainy weather to be exact) so I haven't been able to take a decent enough pic of this card for two days, I have succumbed today because I don't think it is going to get any better anytime soon!

Results Time

I have made this card for my cousin Amy who has passed her AS Level exams. I am really happy for her. I made the card quite simple but love the book stack stamp by A Muse and thought it would work well for an exam congratulations card. I am also happy to announce that I passed my exams and assignments too so I am now a 3rd year at university! What a scary thought!

Pink Petticoat

I have just discovered Pink Petticoat! Yes, I know I am a bit late! Check out the website here. They have some lovely images, greetings and papers for you to buy to download to your computer, print out and add to your handmade cards! This card is made using the Cupcakes images. I have coloured the cupcake in using pencils and added glitter to the icing. The designer paper and card are by Doodlebug Designs. I am having fun using my computer in my card making, usually I just print out the odd greeting for my cards.

Dingbats!

Have you seen the last issue of Simply Cards & Papercraft? In it they had made some cards with Dingbats. I had never even thought of the idea, I just thought that they were cute! Well I have made this creation using the David Walker Make A Wish Dingbat font. I have coloured the cute elephant in with watercolur pencils, if you are careful this will work without smudging the ink. I thought this card would be perfect for a little girl. I have punched the elephant out with a scallop oval punch and added Prima Flowers (with little crystals in the centres) to the edge. The designer paper is from my LSS.

Oh Brother!

I have made this card for my brother, I hope he likes it! It is a concertina/zig zag card. I wanted the back layer of the card to be slightly higher than the front but I couldn't get a whole piece of card that was long enough. In the end I attached 3 cards together to give me the shape that I wanted. The 'mark' is chipboard letters covered with Doodlebug card. The 'Happy Birthday' lettering is made with Sizzlits die.
