Thanks For Being A Friend

Good afternoon, when my mojo is lacking I often look to other card maker's for inspiration. Today's card is inspired by the amazing Amy Kolling. I loved the layout and the bright colours on her card so made something similar.

It came together really quickly. I first took a piece of white cardstock and ran this through my Cuttlebug using the rectangle Femme Frame from ME. I then ran the Thanks die through too using some Lawn Fawn Hello Sunshine paper. This was adhered directly to the panel and then I have stamped the additional part of the sentiment, from the ME Many Thanks stamp set, in black underneath. The butterfly antennae were stamped in SSS Fog ink and then I used the PS die for the butterfly. A little enamel dot was added for the body. The panel was then adhered to a 4Bar card base.

VIDEO | Updated Cardstock Storage

Hello there, I thought I would pop in quickly to share my updated cardstock storage with you. A while ago I moved my magazine files full of cardstock from the top shelf of my unit to the bottom shelf and turned them sideways. I really like how this turned out as it was so quick and easy to grab the cardstock I wanted. It was in manufacturer/company order but I wanted it in colour order as I think not only does it looks better, I thought it would be easier when choosing the cardstock I want.

I used one of the pieces of the cardstock as a type of divider to add the non-permanent labels to. They come off fairly easily if I ever need to use that piece of cardstock. The benefit of this is that I will always have one piece left and I can then see what colours/type I need to order more of. Behind that piece of cardstock I have a punched pocket that I have cut the holes off. This pocket holds all my scraps/offcuts. I thought about using these to add the whole of the cardstock in but I found it was easier to grab without it.

Swallowtail

Hello there, as soon as I bought this stamp from Stampin' Up, I wanted to have a play. I thought about doing different techniques, some water colouring or something but for today's card I wanted to keep it quick and simple.

 

I first took a piece of white cardstock and stamped the Swallowtail on it using TH Peacock Feather Distress Ink. I let it dry for several minutes and went over the whole thing using my clear Wink of Stella brush pen (unfortunately you cannot see the sparkle in the photo but in real life, it is so pretty!). The panel was then adhered to a black A2 card base using foam tape.

 

 

For the sentiment, I stamped the greeting from the MFT More Essential Sentiments set on to some black cardstock using Versamagic ink. I heat embossed this in white and then cut it out using an MFT Pierced Fishtail Flag die. This was adhered to the card with more foam tape and then I embellished with a few Doodlebug Sprinkles.

VIDEO | Making Envelopes

Hello there, quite a while ago Sarah mentioned to me that she struggles a little to use the WRMK Envelope Punch Board. A couple of other people have mentioned that to me too so I thought it was about time to do a video tutorial.

 

 

It is actually an easy tool to use, once you understand the basics. I like to use thick paper or thin cardstock for my envelopes. I have loads of 12x12" Bazzill cardstock so that is perfect to use. I secure the flaps of the envelope using extra strong red line tape. For the flap that the recipient opens, I either use repositionable adhesive or normal double sided tape. You can buy envelope glue but for some reason I have never liked the idea of that stuff!

In the video, I used inches but it works the same for mm or cm. Once you get the hang of what measurements matter, it is quite easy and quick to use. I hope that helps those that have been struggling to use it. Thanks for visiting me and have a lovely day!

Delicate Thistle

Hello there, if you follow me on Instagram, you will have seen this card in the making. I started off by making a big blobby mess of watercolour using my paints and water:

Although this looks awful, it was intentional (just about!). I had planned to cover most of it up. When the paint was dry I added some drops of water (as resist) and then sprayed it with shimmer mist.

On a separate piece of cardstock I die cut the Simon Says Stamp Delicate Thistle die. On the panel, I also stamped the sentiment, from the SSS Lots of Thanks set, in the bottom right. The watercolour piece was adhered to a white card base, I then added the die cut panel on top with foam tape. To finish off, I added a few DB Sprinkles and rhinestones.

VIDEO | Mini Craft Haul

Hello there, good afternoon! I thought I would share a quick little haul with you. I decided in November last year to stop doing monthly haul videos in the hope that I will use my products quicker and not keep them until the end of the month. So here is a random one.
