Spellbinders | Stitched Classic Pooh

Hello there, if you have been a follower of my blog for a while, you will know that I have been doing some felt stitching projects from time to time. Today I have my last one of the year to share and he is a cutie! As soon as I saw the Spellbinders Stitched Classic Pooh Collection I knew I wanted to make a plushie for my very dear friend Sarah. It took a little longer than I hoped to get him to her, but I got there in the end!

PLEASE NOTE: This post contains affiliate links. Please see below for my full disclosure.

As with all Spellbinders felt plushie stitching dies, they are made to be cut from felt, but you can cut them from cardstock too. These ones especially would work well for that purpose as they do not have stitching holes made into them. This is so that you can use any stitch you want to make these. There is a tutorial on the Spellbinders YouTube channel, showing how to stitch them with the blanket stitch but I only learnt that the other week when making Fergus, so opted for running stitch instead!

I used Spellbinders Merino Wool Felt Sheets - Classic Pooh Collection to cut the Spellbinders Stitched Classic Pooh Etched Dies. I used Beeswax for Pooh's body, arms and legs, and Coal for his eyes, inside ear and nose. I stitched him together using DMC 726 Floss. I did add quilt batting and polyester filling to his body but just used the batting for the arms and legs.

The honey pot was cut from Cornflower felt for the main honey pot, Cream for behind the label, and Honey for the honey. The label itself was cut from Demin felt from the Spellbinders Merino Wool Felt Sheets - Cool Collection. I used DMC 813 Floss. The label was adhered to the pot using hot glue but you can stitch it as well. The bee was cut from Coal, Sunflower and Cream felt , adding a Spellbinders Crystal Mix Color Essential Gem to the the centre of the wings. The bee was adhered to the pot and then Pooh's arms adhered to the honey pot. I did stitch in thread at the top of Pooh's head, so that it can be hung up too.

Since there are no stitching holes in this one, I did find it a little difficult to keep my stitching consistent in term of size and in a straight line, however, I am hoping that Sarah will just see the love that went into it, rather than my not so perfect stitching! Thank you so much for stopping by today, I really do appreciate it. I hope you have a wonderful day!

Spellbinders | Fergus

Hello there, today I have something different to share with you - Fergus! He is from the Spellbinders 3D Felt Décor Collection by Sandi MacIver. I am a little late to the party with this one as I haven't been well but I was finally able to sit down this week and stitch him up! You cut the dies from felt and then stitch him together to create THE cutest little gnome/gonk!

PLEASE NOTE: This post contains affiliate links. Please see below for my full disclosure.

Fergus isn't the normal kind of felt plushies that I make occasionally, he is 3D! This was a challenge for me, I am not going to lie. I have never made a 3D anything out of felt, let alone use stitches I had never used before! Sandi is, however, a great teacher and she has shared videos over on the Spellbinders YouTube channel sharing step by step instructions on how to create him.

I used two shades of purple felt for him. There isn't a huge amount of difference between the two shades, but I was happy with how they worked together. I used Heather from the Spellbinders Merino Wool Sheets Trend Collection for the hat and coat. The body and coat/hat trim use Lilac from the Spellbinders Merino Wool Sheets Cool Collection. I used DMC 201 Floss for both of these. Ideally, I would have gone a shade darker for Heather parts but I didn't have any on hand.

I used Peachy from the Spellbinders Merino Wool Holiday Collection with DMC 3865 Floss for his hands and nose, and Snow from the same Holiday Collection using DMC BLANC Floss for his beard. I stuffed his body with polyester filling, as well as Poli plastic pellets to give him some weight to help him stand up.

There are a few sets that can be purchased separately to decorate him for the seasons. I used the snowflakes from the Winter & Christmas Embellishments Etched Dies and cut the two smallest from Snow felt. I adhered them to the hat and coat using hot glue and embellished with a Spellbinders Silver Color Essentials Gem in the centre of each one.

Is he stitched perfectly? No! But I am happy with how he turned out and the majority of the imperfect stitching is hidden on the inside of the hat thankfully! I will definitely find somewhere to have him out over Christmas! Thank you so much for stopping by today, I really do appreciate it. I hope you have a wonderful day!

Spellbinders | Stitched Sunflower

Hello there, today I have something a little different to share with you, this is not a plushie as such (as it has no filling) but simply a felt stitched sunflower. This is from the Summer Felt Stitch & Create Collection by Nichol Spohr for Spellbinders.

PLEASE NOTE: This post contains affiliate links. Please see below for my full disclosure.

I started off by die cutting the petals from the Spellbinders Felt Sunflower Bloom Etched Dies from Sunflower Felt from the Spellbinders Merino Wool Trend Collection. I cut the flower centre pieces from Mocha Felt from the Spellbinders Merino Wool Neutral Collection and the leaves from Mossy Felt from the Spellbinders Merino Wool Holiday Collection

I started off by stitching the circle centre piece to the two petal pieces using Light Mocha Brown DMC Floss. I then took the long centre piece and folded it half and taking one end, rolled it into a circle. I secured the other end to the circle I created using hot glue. You can use one of these pieces but I cut two to get a nice dimensional centre. So I took another of the pieces, folded it in half and adhered this piece to where the last one finished, using more hot glue, I then rolled this piece around the first and secured at the end.

I added glue to to the bottom of it and adhered it to the circle in the middle of the flower with more hot glue. I stitched two leaves back to back using green DMC Floss and then repeated the process so that I had two leaves to adhere to the back of the sunflower (with each leaf having two layers of felt). If you are new to stitching with felt, this one would be a great starting point as there isn't too much actual stitching involved.

This collection is slightly different to the others in that the creations (there is an apple, strawberry and beehive too) are made to be flat, rather than stuffed, so you would attach them to something like a cushion/cards/bags etc. For me, I think I may use this sunflower as pin/needle cushion. The centre is so dimensional that I think the needles will stick in there nicely and not get lost while I am switching between needles!

Thank you so much for stopping by today, I really do appreciate it. I hope you have a wonderful day!

Spellbinders | Spring Felt Stitch & Create

Hello there, I am delighted to be over on the Spellbinders Blog today sharing two felt plushies that I have made using the Spring Felt Stitch & Create collection by Nichol Spohr. If you are a reader of my blog, you will probably remember that I made some for Christmas/winter at the end of last year. This new collection is for spring and features a bunny and hen.

PLEASE NOTE: This post contains affiliate links. Please see below for my full disclosure.

Here is a little peek of the bunny I created. She/he is made from the Spellbinders Felt Carrot Companion Etched Dies, along with Spellbinders Merino Wool Felt Sheets in the Holiday and Trend collections. I stitched everything with DMC Floss and any gluing was done with my hot glue gun. The bunny was stuffed with polyester filling. The bunny is quite a bit smaller in size than the winter plushies and oh so cute!

Spellbinders | Felt Owl

Hello there, I am a little late with this one but I am finally sharing my last plushie from the Spellbinders Felt Stitch & Create Collection by Nichol Spohr. These have been so fun to make! In case you missed the others that I made, you can see the pumpkin here, the reindeer here, and the fox here

PLEASE NOTE: This post contains affiliate links. Please see below for my full disclosure.

Today I am using the Spellbinders Felt Snowy Owl Etched Dies. The owl that Nichol made uses greys, but I thought it would look nice using all white, apart from the stitching detail in grey on her wing and head. The other wing is facing inwards, so you don't see the stitching detail on that one.

I cut the body pieces from Snow (white) felt from the Spellbinders Merino Wool Felt Holiday Collection. The eyes are cut from Coal (black) from the same collection. The beak and feet are cut from Sunflower (dark yellow) from the Trend Collection, and the cheeks from Blossom (pink) from the Neutrals Collection. I stitched the pieces using DMC Floss (white, black and grey) following Nichol's YouTube Tutorial

I decided not to stitch the cheeks or beak and simply hot glued them in place instead. I added polyester filling to her head and body but not to her wings. I did mess up a little, I should have added her head lower on the left side, as from the back, you can still see the top of her wing, but I still think she looks cute! I die cut the flowers from Pansy Felt (Cool Collection) and the leaves from Aloe (Neutrals Collection), I added the stitching first and then adhered them to her head using hot glue.

Whilst I didn't get the definition of the different layers all being cut from white felt, I really love how she turned out! Thank you so much for stopping by today, I really do appreciate it. I hope you have a great weekend!

Spellbinders | Felt Fox

Hello there, today I have another plushie to share with you, If you haven't seen the others that I made, you can see the reindeer here and the pumpkin here. Today I am using the Forest Fox, however, I decided to make him into more of an arctic fox and use greys instead of red/browns.

PLEASE NOTE: This post contains affiliate links. Please see below for my full disclosure.

I started off by die cutting the main body of the Spellbinders Forest Fox Etched Dies from light grey felt from my stash. I then cut the white pieces using the white felt in the Spellbinders Merino Wool Felt Holiday Collection. The black I used for his eyes is also from the same felt collection. The grey for his nose, as well as the pink for his cheeks, are both from the Spellbinders Merino Wool Felt Neutrals Collection

I followed the video tutorial by Nichol Spohr to stitch the fox using DMC Floss (3 strands). Instead of stitching the nose and cheeks, I decided to glue them using hot glue. I did this for the eyes too, being careful to only add glue to the bottom part, so that I could add the white highlight stitch to the top.

I used polyester filling to add some plumpness to the fox (in his head, tail and body only) but you can use a variety of filling materials. The stitching is fairly easy to do, although a little time consuming. The hardest parts are attaching the tail into he body and then the head onto the body. I usually use a blunt needle when stitching, but for these parts, I did use a sharp one so that I could get through all the layers.

Isn't he just absolutely adorable? I think he may be my favourite so far! I do still have one that I want to make though and will hopefully share that here soon! Thank you so much for stopping by today, I hope you have a wonderful day!

Spellbinders | Felt Reindeer

Hello there, I am back with another felt plushie, this time a reindeer! If you haven't seen my first plushie using the new Spellbinders Felt Stitch & Create Collection, you can see that HERE. I love that this reindeer can be customised too - you can add the hat or not, you can have him holding a candy cane/present etc. You can make him into a hanging ornament to add to the tree ... there are so many possibilities!

PLEASE NOTE: This post contains affiliate links. Please see below for my full disclosure.

I started off by die cutting the Spellbinders Felt Reindeer Etched Dies from Spellbinders Merino Wool Felt Sheets Neutrals Collection, adding a little black felt from my stash for his eyes, as well as the red felt for his hat and nose. The white felt is sparkly (sorry it can't bee seen in the photos) and I will talk a little about that later.

I stitched the reindeer using DMC Floss following Nichol Spohr's video tutorial. I added Polyester Craft Filling to his head and body. Attaching the ears and antlers to the head is a little tricky and you have to sandwich them between the front and back pieces of his head, so I hot glued them to the back panel of the head to keep them in place before I stitched. His head did go on a little wonky but I am hoping that adds to his charm!

For the hat, I stitched it on to his head as the last step. You stitch the red piece in place first and then stitch the brim on top. The sparkly white felt that I used is lovely but it is a little thinner than the Merino Wool felt so you could see the red behind it. I decided to use the die as a template and cut a layer of the felt with scissors and then adhered it on top of the stitched one using hot glue. This covered the messyness behind and I still think it looks nice, even without the stitching on it. I did plan on adding some holly and berries to his hat but it didn't quite look right, so left them off.

Spellbinders | Felt Pumpkin

Hello there, today I have something a little different to share with you - a felt plushie. I have made some of these in the past (and shared them here on my blog) but haven't made any for years. Nichol Spohr has a new collection out with Spellbinders called Felt Stitch & Create and there are lots of different designs available - pumpkins, acorns, snowmen, reindeer, candy canes etc. so I had to give them a try again!

PLEASE NOTE: This post contains affiliate links. Please see below for my full disclosure.

These dies are designed to be cut from felt and stitched like I have done, but you can cut them from cardstock and stitch too, or not stitch at all! You can use the elements all together or some separately. I love when there are different options! I thought I would start off with the Spellbinders Felt Pumpkin Lane House Etched Dies

There a are lots of dies in this set - the pumpkin itself, as well as windows that you can add on to make it a house (as you can see I didn't add them) plus flowers, leaves and mushrooms. I started off by die cutting the pumpkin using one of the shades of purple in the Spellbinders Merino Wool Felt Sheets Trend Collection. I cut it twice (cuts beautifully with the Platinum Six) and then added stitching to the lines in the middle of the pumpkin first (on both sides) with DMC Floss and a blunt needle.

I die cut the stalk for the pumpkin using one of the brown shades from the Spellbinders Merino Wool Sheets Neutrals Collection, popped it between the two pieces of the pumpkin and stitched around the outside to secure in place. Before stitching it shut, I added some Polyester Craft Filling

The flowers and leaves were die cut using the same collections of Spellbinders felt, as well as extra white felt from my stash for the flower centres. They were stitched using DMC Floss and then adhered to the pumpkin using hot glue. Hot glue works really well for adhering felt but you can try tape and liquid glues too. I think it would be nice to have added some real buttons to the centres of the flowers but I didn't think of that until afterwards!

If you are new to felt plushies, Nichol Spohr has made video tutorials on how to assemble them over on her YouTube channel, as well as the Spellbinders channel. I am probably going to use this pumpkin as an ornament in my craft room, since I really love the colours and they will go nicely in there! Thank you so much for stopping by today, I really do appreciate it. I hope you have a great day!

Rudolph The Red Nosed Plushie

Hello there, today I have some cuteness to share with you in the form of a Rudolph plushie. I made four of these this year, three for gifts and of course, I had to make one for myself too! ;)

I started off by cutting the Simon Says Stamp Plush Deer from various colours of felt. Using embroidery floss, I stitched the deer together. Before stitching the body together, I added toy filling in.

The collar was stuck on with felt glue and then I added black enamel dots for the eyes and red sparkly ones for the noses. They are only about 5" tall (including the antlers) but oh so cute!

I really enjoyed making these and since they are so small, they didn't take too long to make either. I hope the recipients like them as much as I do! Thank you so much for visiting me today. I hope you have a great week!

Liam Bunny Plushie

Hello there, today I have another felt plushie to share with you. This time using the Plush Liam Bunny die from Memory Box.

I started off by die cutting all the elements twice using felt. I stitched the feet, the ears and the carrot first and then stitched the main bunny's body. I added soft toy filling in all the parts. I used my hot glue gun to add the pads on the bunny's feet.

I then stuck the carrot to the bunny's hands. I added black Doodlebug Sprinkles for the eyes and then cut a little piece of pink felt for the nose and added this with more hot glue. To finish off, I added a white pom pom to the back for his tail.
