Getting Inky In A CAS Way!

Hello there, when I saw the current Muse card over at CASE Study, I knew I wanted to have a go at something similar. Apart from blending Distress Inks, I am not one for getting inky and splattering inks but I really wanted to try something slightly different. I went with a literal CASE of the card as I really liked the splatter type effect as well as the colour.

I first made a spray using PTI Hawaiian Shores Ink Refill and added this with water in to a Mini Mister. I then spayed this gently over my cardstock. While I was waiting for it to dry I die cut the SSS Thanks die four times and layered them up adding clear Wink Of Stella to the top one. Once the panel was dry I flattened it out under some books and then added it to a white card base with 3D foam. I added the thanks on top followed by a few sequins and sprinkles.

Thanks so much for visiting me today, have a great day!

Back To Basics: Acrylic Blocks

Hello there, I thought I would start a mini series on back to basics for card making. To start I have gone through my acrylic blocks and compared what I like about them and what I don't. I have a few different type of blocks that I use for stamping, from various companies:

THE BASIC BLOCKS:
These are your 'normal' square/rectangular blocks with or without grid lines. These are what I started out using. They come in various sizes and differ quite a bit in price with the various companies. Two I like are Papermania and Stampin' Up!. The Papermania ones are really good value, in my opinion. I like that they are light weight and that they have multiple grid lines on them. The SU ones are good too, they are but heavier and bulkier, I suppose, but they do have grooves along the edge so easier to hold in that respect. The only down-fall to these is that they do not come with grid lines. You can buy grid line stickers to use with them but only for the larger blocks. Both of these types are good to use with the Stamp-a-ma-jig.

ROUND BLOCKS:
I personally really like these. I find them easier to hold than most of the square shaped ones and I like that they also have grid lines on them. These cannot be used with the Stamp-a-ma-jig though.

STAMP PRESSES:
I have come across two different brands - Fiskars and Martha Stewart. The benefit of these is that you do not have to hold the block; you just lay the press over what to want to stamp on, line up and then press down. Once you release it pops right back up. The Martha Stewart Footed Mount comes in two sizes - medium and small. The small works better in my opinion as it has more bounce. The feet are quite small so you cannot use these with EZ-mounted stamps, only clear but I do love the small one for sentiments. The Fiskars Stamp Press also comes in two sizes - regular and compact. I have both but use the compact one. This is great because it is quite high up from whatever you are stamping on as it has big feet, it has a nice bounce to it and you can use it with both clear and EZ-mounted stamps.

Here is the video showing you what they all look like ...

Hello, You're A Hoot!

Hello there, today I have another owl card to share with you. This time I have used the Clearly Besotted You're A Hoot II stamp set, isn't he so cute? I have stamped him on to a piece of white CS, coloured him in with Copic Markers and then masked him off so that I could stamp the branch from the CBS Paired Up stamp set. I have added strips of paper from the Lawn Fawn Into The Woods paper pad beside and wrapped with SU Linen Thread. The sentiment is from the CBS A Little Sentimental set.

Butterfly Heart Take Two

Hello there, I am back with the other card I made using the beautiful Memory Box Butterfly Heart Die last weekend. This time I have teemed it up with PTI Hawaiian Shores CS and the same Clearly Besotted A Little Sentimental sentiment. This time though I 'plumped' up the butterflies a lot more to give more dimension and popped a little rhinestone in the centre of each one.

Butterfly Heart

Hello there, I saw this new Memory Box Butterfly Heart die and I couldn't resist! How pretty are those butterflies. I made two cards (very similar) last weekend and this is the first one. I have simply cut the die on a piece of white CS and then bent the wings slightly. I have added this to a card base made from PTI Winter Wisteria CS. The sentiment is from the Clearly Besotted A Little Sentimental set. Finished off with a few Doodlebug Mini Jewels.
