Christmas Line Up

Hello there, today I have a card to share using the Clearly Besotted Christmas Line Up set that was released at the beginning of the month. There are four different line ups but for today, I decided to go with the polar bears.

 

I started off my card by stamping the polar bear image from the Clearly Besotted Christmas Line Up Stamp Set on to a panel of white cardstock. I took the sentiment from the Clearly Besotted Simple Script Stamp Set and stamped this below. I then fussy cut around the top of the image, leaving the bottom connected to the panel.

 

 

The image was then coloured using Copic Markers (the colours that I used are listed below the supplies area) and set aside while I worked on the background. I took a panel of watercolour paper and blended Distress Inks at the top. I used Wilted Violet, Blueprint Sketch and Peacock Feathers. I then took the Clearly Besotted Snow Day Stencil and placed this over the top.

 

 

I took Tonic Moonstone Glimmer Paste and applied a layer of this over the stencil using a spatula. The stencil was removed and the panel set aside to dry. Once dry, it was adhered flat to an A2 white card base with tape runner. I then added the image piece on top with foam tape.

VIDEO | Coloured Pencils on Grey Toned Paper

Hello there, today I have a tag and video to share with you using coloured pencils on grey toned paper. I really like using coloured pencils on coloured paper/cardstocks. I think that you can get a completely different look than when colouring on white. Arteza kindly sent me a Grey Toned Sketch Pad to try and I thought it would work well for this technique.

 

 

I started off by die cutting the Arteza Grey Toned Sketch Pad sheet using the largest of the Hero Arts Nesting Tag Dies. I then stamped the floral image from the Hero Arts + Gina K Friendship Blooms Stamp Set on top using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.

 

I coloured the image using Arteza Coloured Pencils. I used Indigo, Aegean Blue, Robin's Egg Blue and also White Quartz for the flowers. I first added the darkest shade in, followed by the mid-tone and then the lightest shade. I then added a layer of white, followed by the lightest shade again. As I show in the video, adding a layer of white first, lightens the shade of the pencil. I then went back in, adding another layer of all the colours, this time pushing a bit harder on to the paper. I did the same thing for the leaves, this time using Emerald, Basil and Matcha, as well as the White Quartz.

 

 

I then went around the image using a W3 Copic Marker. This adds a little shading around the image and helps it to pop, I think. When stamping the original image, I kept the stamp in my MISTI so that I could re-stamp it once the colouring was finished. I did this using Nocturne Versafine Clair Ink. I also stamped the sentiment in the top right hand corner, using the same ink.

 

 

I die cut a further tag from white cardstock and adhered this on to the back of the grey paper one. This not only gives it stability but finishes off the back of the tag nicely. I added twine through the top of the tag and tied it in a bow. To finish off, I added Lucy's Iridescent Jewels around the image.

When colouring with coloured pencils, I like to use a paper with some tooth/texture to it. This Arteza paper works really nicely and I like the warm grey colour. The only downside of this paper for me is that it is paper weight, rather than a cardstock weight, so to use it in cardmaking you would want to back it with cardstock. VIDEO | Tonic Studios Wonderful Wishes Release

Hello there, today I am delighted to be joining Tonic Studios to celebrate their Wonderful Wishes release. We are celebrating with a fun party (more on that below) full of inspiration, discounts and giveaways.

 

 

Today I have three projects to share with you using the new release plus lots of ways to add sparkle and shine to your cards and projects.

 

My first card uses the wonderful new Tonic Studios Warm Cocoa Wishes Stamp Set. I first stamped the girl stamp from the set on to white cardstock with Nuvo Black Shadow Hybrid Ink. I then coloured her using Nuvo Alcohol Markers (the colours that I used will be listed below the supplies area) and fussy cut her out with scissors.

 

 

I took a panel of white cardstock and blended ink on to the bottom half. I used the Polar Ice colour from the Nuvo Sea Siren Diamond Hybrid Ink Pads collection and built up the colour using a blending brush. I then spritzed the panel with a solution of Perfect Pearls and water and set the piece aside to dry. I took the sentiment from the Tonic Studios Warm Cocoa Wishes Stamp Set and stamped this on to black cardstock with Versamark ink. I applied Nuvo Glacier White Embossing Powder and heat set. It was then cut in to a strip.

 

 

Once dry, the inked panel was adhered flat on to a white A2 card base with tape runner. I then added the girl image and sentiment on top with foam tape. I took Nuvo Aqua Shimmer Pen and added this to the girl's bow, followed by Nuvo Crystal Glaze on the heart on the cocoa cup. To finish off, I added Nuvo Gloss Simply White Crystal Drops around the sentiment.

 

My next card uses the super cute new Tonic Studios Snowman Snuggle Stamp Set. I started off by stamping the snowman group image, as well as one of the sentiments from the set on to a panel of white cardstock with black ink. I then made a mask for the snowmen from mask paper and added this on top. I took a sheet of mylar and die cut a circle from it. This was placed over my panel so that I could ink blend through it.

 

 

I used Polar Ice from the Nuvo Sea Siren Diamond Hybrid Ink Pads collection, as well as the Blue Siren colour from the Nuvo Blue Blossom Diamond Hybrid Ink Pads collection. Keeping the masks in place, I placed the Tonic Studios Winter Wonderland Stencil on top and masked off the areas that I did not want to use with Post-It Tape. I took Nuvo Frostbite Glacier Paste and applied a thin layer of this over the snow flurries. I removed the stencil plus both masks and left this aside to dry overnight.

 

 

Once dry, the images were coloured using Nuvo Alcohol Markers (the colours listed below) and the panel adhered on to an A2 white card base with foam tape. To finish off, I added Nuvo White Blizzard Glitter Drops to the snowmen's hats.

 

Last but not least, I have a little tag to share with you. I first made the tag from white cardstock using the WRMK Tag Punch Board. I then placed the Tonic Studios Winter Wonderland Stencil over the tag and blended Distress Inks on to the trees. I used Twisted Citron, Mowed Lawn and Pine Needles. I then added on a layer of Nuvo Moonstone Glimmer Paste, being careful not to be too precise with it. I actually wanted it to look a bit messy to resemble snow piling up on the branches. I removed the stencil and set it aside to dry.

 

 

Once dry, I added a piece of MFT Black & White Striped Paper across the bottom, as well as a thin strip of black cardstock. I then took the mouse image from the Tonic Studios Warm Cocoa Wishes Stamp Set and stamped this on to more white cardstock. I coloured her with Nuvo Alcohol Markers and then fussy cut her out. She was added to the tag with foam tape.

 

 

I also white heat embossed the same sentiment as I used on the first card, but this time I masked off the 'and kisses' portion to have the sentiment read simply 'hugs'. This was also added to the tag with foam tape. To finish off, I added twine through the top of the tag and Nuvo White Blizzard Glitter Drops to her scarf. I also added Nuvo Crystal Glaze to her glasses.

Simon Says Stamp | Sending Prayers

Hello there, today I have a card to share with you using the new Prayers die from Simon Says Stamp. It is part of their new Cheer and Joy release which is out today.

 

I started off my card by taking a panel of white cardstock and blending Distress Inks on to the top portion of it. I used Wilted Violet at the top, followed by Blueprint Sketch and then Peacock Feathers at the bottom. I have used this colour combo a few times and really love it! I then splattered on some water droplets and let it sit to dry.

 

 

I took the Simon Says Stamp Clustered Leaves Die and cut this from pearlescent vellum. The leaves were wrapped around the top of the panel and secured at the back with tape. The panel was then adhered to a 4" x 5.5" white card base with foam tape. I made the card base a little narrower, so that it will accommodate the leaf hanging off the edge slightly.

 

 

I took the Simon Says Stamp Prayers Die and cut it three times from white cardstock. These were adhered one on top of another and then added to the card with Multi Medium Matte glue. I took a sentiment from the Simon Says Stamp Tiny Words Stamp Set and stamped the 'sending' portion on to black cardstock with Versamark ink. I applied super fine white embossing powder and heat set. This was then cut in to a strip and added to the card with more liquid glue. To finish off, I added a few Lucy's Ice Cube Jewels.

Hero Arts October 2019 My Monthly Hero Kit Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hello there, today we are celebrating the release of the Hero Arts October 2019 My Monthly Hero Kit. The kit is winter/Christmas based and has a fun retro vibe to it. For the hop, you should have arrived here from Mariana, but if you get lost along the way, I have the full list of participants below.

I love the images for scene building in this kit but I also fell in love with the font on the sentiments and thought it would be fun to combine these with the papers in the kit, to make some tags.

I started off by die cutting the blue and teal neon cardstock from the kit using one of the dies from the Hero Arts Ornaments Infinity Dies set. I then took Reactive Inks and blended these on to the bottom section of the ornaments. Kind of like the glass ornaments that you can get. I used Hero Arts Blue Hawaii Reactive Ink for the teal cardstock and Hero Arts Grape Slush Reactive Ink for the blue cardstock.

I then spritzed them with the Hero Arts White Iridescent Shimmer Spray and set them aside to dry. Sadly, the sparkle doesn't show up that well in the photos but in real life, the sparkle is so pretty! Once the ornaments were dry, I stamped the sentiments from the stamp set in to the middle using Hero Arts Clear Embossing & Watermark Ink.

I applied Hero Arts White Detail Embossing Powder and heat set. I then stamped the snowflake images on the teal tag and the retro shaped images on the purple one. They were also heat embossed in white. I die cut a further two tags from Hero Arts Dove White Cardstock and adhered these to the backs of the stamped ones.

I die cut two ornament topper pieces from the Chrome cardstock in the kit and added these to the top of the ornaments. To finish off, I added a twine bow at the top of each tag.

I also wanted to quickly share the card that I made for the countdown on the Hero Arts Blog. This card uses some of the images from the kit that I stamped using Hero Arts Intens-ified Black Ink and then coloured using Copic Markers. They were cut out using the coordinating dies in the kit and then adhered together so that the presents are in the boot/trunk of the car and the tree on top.

 

The background was created my simply blending Hero Arts Pool Party Reactive Ink on to a panel of white cardstock and spritzing over the same White Iridescent Shimer Spray, as well as Tim Holtz Distress Spray Stain in Picket Fence. The sentiment was then stamped the in top left hand corner and the car added at the bottom with foam tape. To finish off, I added Prisma Glitter that comes in the kit to the top of the tree, car and presents.

Clearly Besotted Teasers | Christmas Fishes

Hello there and welcome to Clearly Besotted release day! The new October 2019 release goes live tonight and I have one last teaser to share with you this morning, before sharing the release later. Today I am using two new sets - Christmas Sea and Merry Maidens.

I started off by taking a panel of white cardstock and stamping the seabed image (how cute is the Christmas tree made from coral?!) from the Clearly Besotted Christmas Sea Stamp Set at the bottom, using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. I also stamped two fish from the set on to the panel. I took the starfish image from the set and stamped this on to a separate piece of cardstock. I also took two of the mermaids from the new Clearly Besotted Merry Maidens Stamp Set and stamped these on to more white cardstock.

 

 

The mermaids and starfish were coloured using Copic Markers and then fussy cut out. They were set aside while I worked on the background. I made a mask for the seabed image and placed this over the stamped panel. I then blended Distress Inks in Mermaid Lagoon and Blueprint Sketch above for the sea. I took the Clearly Besotted Sunny Day Stencil and placed this over the panel. I sponged on Hero Arts Unicorn White Ink to make light rays through the sea. Before removing the stencil, I also spritzed the panel with Sparkle Sheer Shimmer Spritz.

 

 

The stencil and masks were removed and I coloured the seabed with Copic Markers (the colours that I used are listed below). I took the sentiment from the Clearly Besotted Christmas Sea Stamp Set and stamped this towards the top of the sea. The panel was added to a white A2 card base with tape runner and then the starfish was added on top with liquid glue. The mermaids were added next with foam tape. To finish off, I added dots of Copic Spica pen for some added sparkle, as well as a few dots with white gel pen.

It was really fun to combine these sets to make an underwater Christmas scene but sadly, because of all the sparkle on it, my camera struggled to get good photos of it. Clearly Besotted Teasers | One More Sleep

Hello there and welcome to day four of the October 2019 Clearly Besotted Teasers. Not long to wait now, the new sets release tomorrow at 8pm BST. The set I am using today is aptly named 'one more sleep' and there is just one more sleep till you can get your hands on it! :)

 

 

I thought the set would work well for tags. I started off by taking two of the tag dies from the Clearly Besotted Tag Along Set and cut them from white cardstock, I also cut the rounded one from watercolour paper and the more traditional shaped one from Bristol cardstock. I took the two white cardstock tags and die cut the bottoms using the Mama Elephant Landscape Trio Dies to create snow banks for my critters to sit on. I also cut two hole reinforcers from white cardstock.

 

I took the fox and dog from the Clearly Besotted One More Sleep Stamp Set and stamped them on to white cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. I coloured them using Copic Markers and fussy cut them out with scissors. I neatened up the edges with a Memento Tuxedo Black Marker and then they were set aside while I worked on the skies.

 

 

For the fox tag, I first blended Distress Inks on to the watercolour paper tag. I used Peacock Feathers, Blueprint Sketch and Wilted Violet. I then placed the Clearly Besotted Snow Day Stencil on top and applied a layer of Tonic Nuvo Moonstone Glimmer Paste. Once dry, the tag was assembled with the snow bank and added with tape runner. The fox was added on top with foam tape. The sentiment from the Clearly Besotted Full Of Sentiment Stamp Set was heat embossed on black cardstock, cut out and added to the tag with more foam tape.

 

For the dog tag, I took the tag cut from Bristol Cardstock and blended Chipped Sapphire and Seedless Preserves Distress Ink on to it. Once dry, I took the firework images from the Clearly Besotted One More Sleep Stamp Set and stamped these on to the tag with Versamark Ink. I applied Tonic Nuvo Shimmering Pearl Embossing Powder and heat set.

The sentiment from the set was also heat embossed in white on black cardstock and added to the tag with foam tape. To finish off, I added the hole reinforcer pieces to the tags, as well as twine through the top. I did also cut a further two tags from white cardstock to back the fronts. This just makes it so that it is cleaner looking on the back of the tag to write on.

There are lots of animals in the One More Sleep set, as well as other elements you can use to create scenes with, but I thought these simple scenes would work well for tags.
