STAMPtember | Layered Chrysanthemums

Hello there, today is Clearly Besotted day over at Simon Says Stamp. Clearly Besotted have collaborated with SSS for a special STAMPtember set.

This set is exclusive to Simon and is available in limited quantities. It's a stunning one - Layered Chrysanthemums.

For my card, I started off by cutting a piece of white cardstock using the thin frame die from the SSS Frames die collection. I then cut this another three times from black cardstock. I took the white inside piece and stamped the chrysanthemums on to it using shades of yellow ink. As the name suggests, they are layering stamps. I stamped the solid image with a light yellow, the second layer with a mid-tone and then the smaller/detail image with the dark shade. I masked off as I went and stamped the leaves with shades of green ink. I find a stamp positioner helps when layering these stamps.

I took the sentiment from the same set and stamped this along the bottom of the piece with black ink. This panel was added to a white A2 card base with ATG. I then stacked the thin frame pieces up with Quickie Glue pen. These were then added to the card. To finish off, I added clear Wink of Stella on to the darkest parts of the flowers. It's difficult to see in the photos but I think it finishes off the card perfectly.

I thought about adding sequins or other embellishments to the card but I found I liked it as it is. I think it shows the stunning flowers off. For more information on the set, please pop over to the Simon Says Stamp Blog. Thanks so much for visiting me today. I hope you have a wonderful day!

VIDEO | Simon Says Stamp Haul #15

Hello there, today I have a Simon Says Stamp haul to share with you. Like a lot of people I decided to make an order to Simon on the 1st September as part of their STAMPtember release.

There were a few things that I wanted that were non-STAMPtember and thankfully these were in stock, so I got those, along with a few of the new items. Here is a look at what I got:

Fairy Birthday

Hello there, today I have a card to share that I made for my niece for her birthday. She is a girly girl so I wanted to go with something pink and purple and glittery. The front of the card was inspired by Nichol Spohr but I also wanted to do decorate the inside, so I went with a pop up design.

For the front, I started off by cutting a rectangle of cardstock and then blending over distress inks to make a sky. Using the LF Puffy Cloud dies, I cut some clouds from white cardstock, along with a piece from vellum. These were adhered to the front of the distress inked panel. The sentiment, from the LF Scripty Sayings set was stamped on the bottom cloud.

The fairies from the LF Fairy Friends set were stamped on to white cardstock, along with the wands. These were coloured with Copics Markers and cut out with the matching dies. These were adhered to the front of the card with foam tape. I then added a sprinkling of confetti from Little Things from Lucy's Cards. I adhered them with Multi Medium Matte.

For the inside, I first took a piece of white cardstock and blended Broken China Distress Ink on to it, to follow on the sky from the front. This was adhered to the top part of the inside. I then added another cloud cut from white cardstock. I took a piece of green paper from the LF Let's Polka paper pad and cut this using the ME Grassy Border Trio dies. I then cut two pop up pieces in to using the ME Pop Up dies. This was then adhered to the bottom piece of the inside.

I took a white piece of cardstock and stamped the sentiment from the Fairy Friends set on to it. I then cut the top of the panel using the SSS A2 Card Curved Edge die. This was adhered below the grass piece. I then stamped the flowers, along with another fairy, coloured them in and die cut out. I already had the house stamped and coloured from the 30 day colouring challenge. The fairy and the house were adhered on to the pop up pieces and then the flowers behind. To finish off, I added a liberal coating of Wink of Stella to the flowers, the house and all the fairy's wings.

Up & Away

Hello there, I love playing with new stamp sets but every once in a while, I love going back to the classics. I love this Up & Away set from Mama Elephant. It is great for so many occasions and today I am using it for a birthday card.

I started off by stamping the monkey and balloons from the set with black ink. These were coloured using Copic Markers. I then fussy cut the balloons and used the coordinating die from the die collection. I didn't use the balloon die as it does not cut the strings and I wanted to keep those intact on the die cut. I then cut various pieces of white cardstock and vellum using the MFT Pierced Square Frame die and then the ME Landscape dies for the clouds.

I took the inside piece of the frame and blended Distress Ink over it, as well as the frame. I used Peacock Feathers at the bottom and Tumbled Glass at the top. I took the sentiment, from the ME Mini Messages stamp set, and stamped this on to the bottom cloud with black ink. I then layered up the clouds on to the piece and then added it to a white 4.75" x 4.75" card base. The frames were layered up and then added also. The monkey and balloons were added with foam tape. I then coated the balloons with Glossy Accents.
