VIDEO | Partial Stencilling

Hello there, today I have a tag to share using partial stencilling for the background. Partial stencilling is a great way to add interest to a background without distracting from the focal point. If I had added the stencilling over the whole tag, it would have overpowered the flowers. By adding a few crosses here and there, they add to the overall look and feel of the tag.

I started off my tag by stamping the floral image from Altenew Build-A-Garden: Scripted in Bloom onto white cardstock using Altenew Obsidian Pigment Ink. The image was die cut out and placed on my Sticky Mat. I then added colour to the image using the coordinating stencils and ink blending.

I used Altenew Sweet Dreams Fresh Dye Inks for the petals, Altenew Golden Sunset Fresh Dye Inks for the flower centres, and Altenew Green Valley Fresh Dye Inks for the leaves. I used a combination of Altenew Mini and Micro Blending Brushes.

I die cut two tags from the Altenew Terrific Tags Die Set from white cardstock. I used one as a guide for where to cut my floral image, so that I could add the hole in the top (please watch the video below on how I did the partial die cutting). I then added stencilling to one of the tags using the crosses image from the Altenew Daydream Doodles Stencil Set

I moved the stencil around so that I could figure out what crosses would look best where, using the floral image as a guide. When I had the placement sorted, I masked off the parts of the stencil that I did not want to add ink blending to, using Post-It Tape. I then added ink blending to the crosses that I wanted on the tag with Altenew Jet Black Fresh Dye Ink

The two tags were adhered together back to back with Altenew Glue Tape. The image was adhered on top with Altenew Instant Dimension Foam Tape. I tied twine through the top of the tag and tied in a bow. To finish, I stamped a sentiment from Altenew Twin Blooms onto Altenew Crafty Necessities: Jet Black Cardstock using Altenew Embossing Ink. I applied Altenew Pure White Crisp Embossing Powder and heat set. It was cut into a strip and adhered to the tag with more foam tape.

As I say in the video, I really love the graphic look of this tag. I like having the black and white background with the pop of colour from the flowers. I did experiment with a teal background but ultimately liked the black and white better! Thank you so much for stopping by today, I really do appreciate it. I will be back later with a look at the new Altenew release but for now, I hope you have a wonderful day!
