VIDEO | Can Alcohol Inks Be Clean & Simple?

Hello there, today I have two tags and a video to share with you using Altenew Alcohol Inks in a clean and simple way. Obviously, alcohol inks are a messy medium. There are no two ways about it but you can use them in a clean and simple way design wise.

I started off by die cutting four tags using the Altenew Terrific Tags Die Set. Two from Heavyweight Yupo Paper for the fronts and two from Classic Crest 110lb Solar White for the backs. On to the Yupo pieces, I added Altenew Alcohol Inks. These are the same as what you would use to refill your Artist Markers but today, I am simply using them direct from the bottle. 

For the first tag, I used pinks - Razzleberry, Rubellite and Pink Diamond. I moved the inks around with a Tim Holtz Alcohol Ink Air Blower. I wanted to keep them fairly vibrant and with harsh edges so I did not use much Isopropyl Alcohol to blend them. I also left white space on the tag. 

For the blue tag, I used blues - Desert Night, Dusk, Ocean Waves and Sea Glass. For this tag, I wanted a more blended look, so I added a layer of Isopropyl Alcohol first to get the inks moving and blending. I ended up losing a lot of the white space on this tag, but I still like how it turned out. 

The tags were left to dry while I worked on the focal point. I took the leaves dies from the Altenew Decorative Swirls Die Set and cut them each three times from white cardstock. I layered them up with Altenew 2 in 1 Precision Glue Pen and added them to the tags. The sentiments were stamped from the Altenew Flower Vine Stamp Set on to black cardstock with Altenew Embossing Ink.

I applied Altenew Pure White Crisp Embossing Powder and heat set. They were then cut in to strips using the Altenew Sentiment Banners Cover Die and added to the tags with Altenew Instant Dimension Foam Tape. To finish off, I added twine through the top of the tags and Raindrops around the leaves.

Spellbinders | Sketch Florals

Hello there, today I have a card to share with you using the Spellbinders Small Die of the Month Club Kit for December 2021. This month is called Sketch Florals & Frame and it consists of beautiful floral dies that can be used in different ways and a beautiful ornate frame. I didn't use the frame today but it is included.

I started off my card by die cutting the outlines of the flowers from the Spellbinders December 2021 Small Die of the Month Club Kit from Spellbinders Snowdrift Cardstock. I then cut the flowers again from various shades of Spellbinders Cardstock so that I could inlay them (the dies do come as a base layer and top layer but I like the inlay look, so decided to do that today). 

I used Pink Sand, Dahlia and Wild Berry for the flower petals and Peridot, Rainforest and Fern for the leaves. I adhered the leaves and flower bud directly to an A2 white card base with Bearly Art Glue and popped the main flower up with thin foam tape. 

I took the 'for you' sentiment from the Spellbinders Yana's Tiny Sentiments Hot Foil Plate & Die Set and foiled it on to Onyx Cardstock with Spellbinders Silver Foil. It was cut out in to a strip and added to the card with more thin foam tape. To finish off, I added a few Spellbinders Crystal Mix Color Essential Gems.

Altenew | Craft-A-Flower Carolina Allspice Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hello there and happy Altenew release day! Today is the day for the release of the December 2021 Craft-A-Flower Layering Die Set. Today's flower is the Carolina Allspice and I have to be honest, I had not heard of it before, so off to Google I went! They are so beautiful! Looks like they come in lots of warm colours, So I opted for my favourite pink shades.

I started off by die cutting the layers of the Altenew Craft-A-Flower Carolina Allspice Layering Die Set from Altenew Cherry Blossom Gradient Cardstock and an extra Plum cardstock. I cut the leaves from Altenew Green Meadows Gradient Cardstock. I adhered the layers together with Altenew 2 in 1 Precision Glue. 

I took a die from the Altenew Fine Frames Square Die Set and cut it from Plum cardstock with Altenew Double-Sided Adhesive Sheet on the back. This was adhered to a white A2 card base and then the leaves added on with glue tape. The flower was then added in the middle with thin foam tape. 

I took the thanks die from the set and cut it twice from white cardstock (with more Double-Sided Adhesive Sheet on the back) and once from Altenew Pink Brilliance Gradient Glitter Cardstock. They were adhered together, one on top of another and then added to the card with tiny pieces of Altenew Instant Dimension Foam Tape at the bottom. To finish off, I added a few Ice Cube Jewels.

Hero Arts | December 2021 My Monthly Hero Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hello there, today we are celebrating the release of the Hero Arts December 2021 My Monthly Hero Kit and add-ons. As mentioned in Friday's post, this month is all about cities and neighbourhoods. Perfect for missing you cards, new home cards, just moved cards but also just general hello cards. We are celebrating with a fun blog hop. More info on that below.

My first two projects feature the Hero Arts December 2021 My Monthly Hero Kit. I used the background stamp in the kit, along with the clear stamp set for the sentiments.

For the card, I started off by stamping the City Cling Stamp from the kit on to a panel of white cardstock with Hero Arts Clear Embossing & Watermark Ink. I then applied Hero Arts White Detail Embossing Powder and heat set. Using Ink Blending Brushes and Reactive Inks, I added colour to the panel. I used (top to bottom) Purple Galaxy, Blue Hawaii, Blue Raspberry and Key Lime Fizz. 

I had planned on cutting the panel down to quite small but after inking it, I didn't want to lose any, so in the end it ended up being about 4.25" x 5.75". It was adhered to a 4.75" x 6.25" black card base with foam tape. I took the cat and dog from the clear stamp set in the kit and stamped them on to white cardstock with Hero Arts Intens-ified Black Ink. They were die cut out using the coodinating Frame Cuts in the kit. I also die cut a Hero Arts Nesting Hearts Infinity Die from Hero Arts Vellum Layering Paper.

I took the sentiment from the kit stamp set and stamped it on to Pitch Black Cardstock with more embossing ink. I applied Hero Arts White Embossing Powder and heat set. It was cut in to a strip and added to the vellum heart with foam tape. I then added the cat and dog above with more foam tape and adhered the heart to the card with tape runner (hiding the adhesive behind the sentiment and animals). To finish off, I die cut a heart from Cherry Cardstock and added it to the dog, followed by a layer of Hero Arts Lacquer Pen. 

When I was stamping the background image from the card, I wasn't sure whether I wanted it to have white or black outlines. As you can see, I went with with white but didn't want to waste the black one, so thought I would make a tag with it. The City Cling Stamp was stamped with Hero Arts Clear Embossing & Watermark Ink and Hero Arts Black Detail Embossing Powder applied and heat set. I then blended ink on top as I did with the card. 

I die cut it using a Hero Arts Tag Infinity Die and then cut the hole reinforcer from black, which was adhered with Hero Arts Precision Glue. I die cut another heart from vellum and the sentiment was heat embossed in white on to black cardstock. It was cut in to a strip and added to the heart with foam tape. The heart and was then adhered to the tag. To finish off, I added twine through the top of the tag. 

My next card uses the one of the release add-on sets. These sets work alongside the kit or can be used separately. I started off by taking a panel of white cardstock and stamping the row of trees from the Hero Arts Wherever You Go Stamp Set with Hero Arts Intens-ified Black Ink. I then made a mask for them and placed it over the top. I wanted to trees to extend further, so I stamped it again to add another two trees to the right hand side and made a mask for them too. 

I masked off below the line and then stamped the buildings stamp above. I also masked this off, so that I could stamp an extra cloud to the right (as that one is not included in the image as is). The masks were then all removed and the image coloured with Copic Markers. The panel was added to an A2 white card base with foam tape. 

I took the sentiment from the set and stamped it on to Pitch Black Cardstock with Hero Arts Clear Embossing & Watermark Ink. I applied Hero Arts White Detail Embossing Powder and heat set. It was cut in to a strip and added to the card with more foam tape.

VIDEO | Monochromatic No-Line Stencilling

Hello there, today I have a card to share with you using monochromatic no-line stencilling. I did share this card over on the Hero Arts Blog a few weeks ago, so I apologise if you have already seen it but I thought that I would share it here too. It uses the Hero Arts Holiday Ornaments set, along with stencils that coordinate to add colour. You can mix and match all of these and add as many or as little layers as you want to the ornaments.

I started my card off by stamping three of the ornaments from the Hero Arts Holiday Ornaments Stamp Set on to white cardstock using Hero Arts Contour Ink. This is a pale grey ink which is perfect for the no-line look. I then took the Hero Arts Holiday Ornaments and Trimmings Stencil, as well as the Hero Arts Layering Ornaments Stencil and used these to add colour to the ornaments with ink blending.

I placed the solid layers of the ornaments down first, securing in place with Post-It tape. Using Hero Arts Ink Blending Brushes, I first added on a layer of Hero Arts Dusty Blue Mid-Tone Shadow Ink. I then added a small amount of Hero Arts Navy Mid-Tone Shadow Ink to the right hand side. I removed the stencil and placed on one of the layers. This time, I just used the Navy ink to add the colour/detail/pattern to the ornaments.

Last but not least, I placed the topper piece of the ornament down and ink blended with Hero Arts Soft Granite Ink. Once all three ornaments were inked, I die cut them out using the Hero Arts Holiday Ornaments Frame Cuts. I threaded silver thread through the top of the ornaments and then adhered them on to a panel of Nautical Cardstock using foam tape.

The thread was then secured at the back with tape. I staggered the height of the ornaments so it looked like they were hanging from the top of the card. The panel was then adhered to an A2 card base made from more Nautical Cardstock. The sentiment, from the Hero Arts Make Your Own Snow Globe Stamp Set, was stamped on to white cardstock with Hero Arts Intrens-ified Black Ink and die cut using the frame cuts from the Hero Arts Message Strips Stamp & Cut XL set. It was added to the card with foam tape and tape runner and then the card was finished off with Hero Arts Neutrals Hero Hues Enamel Dots.

Altenew | Sweet Moments Collection Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

For my card today, I am using the new Rose Mallow Stencil set, along with the Inside and Out: Thanks stamp set and new masking tape. I started off my card by taking a panel of white cardstock and placing the positive/mask pieces of the Altenew Rose Mallow Stencil Set (3 in 1) on top. This was to give me a guide so that I knew where I wanted my roses and leaves to go. 

The stencils come as a set of 3, so I placed the first one over the panel and using the new Altenew Satin Masking Tape, secured it in place. This has great adherence but also comes off easily too. Although I didn't use it for this purpose today, I think it would be great for die cutting (holding down dies) and holding down watercolour paper when painting too. I think it has a lot of uses and I love that it is purple!

Using Altenew Small Ink Blending Brushes, I blended on Altenew Cherry Blossom Crisp Dye Inks for the rose. I placed the mask on top and then ink blended the other rose to the side. I placed masks on top of them both and then placed the leaves stencil on top. For the leaves, I used Altenew Green Fields Crisp Dye Inks. All the stencils and masks were then removed.

I took the new Altenew Inside and Out: Thanks Stamp Set and stamped the sentiment on top using Altenew Obsidian Pigment Ink. The panel was then simply adhered to an A2 card base with Altenew Instant Dimension Foam Tape.

Hero Arts | December 2021 My Monthly Hero Countdown

Hello there and welcome as we countdown to the release of the Hero Arts My Monthly Hero Kit and add-ons. Release day is Monday, 6th December and all weekend long, we will be sharing inspiration with you using the new kit followed by a fun blog hop on Monday. This month is all about cities and neighbourhoods.

For my card today, I am using the products from the main kit. I started off by die cutting the Fancy Cover Plate Die in the kit from Hero Arts Pitch Black Cardstock. I then took a panel of white cardstock and added ink blending to it for the sky. You get three Reactive Ink Cubes in the kit and I have used two of them today (Lemon Drop and Berry Smoothie). 

Using Ink Blending Brushes and Reactive Inks, I added Lemon Drop at the bottom, followed by Creamsicle, Taffy and then Berry Smoothie at the top. The die cut was then adhered on top with Precision Glue and the panel adhered to a 5" x 6.25" white card base with foam tape. 

I took the sentiment from the main kit stamp set and stamped it on to more Pitch Black cardstock with Hero Arts Clear Embossing & Watermark Ink. I applied Hero Arts White Detail Embossing Powder and heat set. It was cut in to a strip and added to the card with more foam tape. To finish off, I added Clear Hero Hues Enamel Dots.

Simon Says Stamp | DieCember 2021

Hello there and happy DieCember to you! Yes, it is that time of year again where Simon Says Stamp celebrate all things dies and die cutting. There will be fun things happening throughout the month but today sees the main DieCember release. For my cards today, I am using the new Privet Branch Die.

I started off my cards by getting inky. I took sheets of Tim Holtz Woodgrain Distress Cardstock and placed them in my Splat Box. I then sprayed them with lots of different Distress Spray Stains. I will be honest with you, I was playing about so I am not 100% sure of the combination but these panels did use Shaded Lilac, Wilted Violet, Villainous Potion, Mermaid Lagoon and Chipped Sapphire. I also spritzed them with Sparkle Sheer Shimmer Spritz before setting them aside to dry. 

Whilst they were drying, I die cut the new Simon Says Stamp Privet Branch Die multiple times from white cardstock with double-sided adhesive sheet on the back. For the first card, I die cut one of the inked panels using a Hero Arts Nesting Circle Infinity Die. I also used a larger die to emboss this on to an A2 white card base. 

The inked panel was added on top with tape runner. I then added on one layer of the Privet Branch on top, followed by another two layers, so that it was three layers high. I added on two Simon Says Stamp Reverse Sentiment Strips Birthday sentiments on top (cut using the Simon Says Stamp Sentiment Labels Dies) with foam tape. To finish off, I added Little Things from Lucy's Cards Bubbles. 

For my next card, I die cut one of the inked panels with the Simon Says Stamp Privet Branch Die. I also cut it another three times from white cardstock with the adhesive sheet on the back. They were layered up on to a white A2 card base and the excess cut off the top. 

I die cut another two Simon Says Stamp Reverse Sentiment Strips Birthday sentiments and added them on with foam tape. To finish off, I added a few Bubbles.

Before I go, this month is also touched with sadness as Lisa Tilson has decided to step down from the Clearly Besotted Design Team. I cannot begin to tell you how lovely it has been to work with her over the years as a teamie. Her encouragement, kindness, talent and support will be sorely missed from all of us at Clearly Besotted. It really has been an honour to work with her.

Really, every card of Lisa's is a favourite for me. Her eye for design is fantastic, her colouring skills are amazing and her ink blending ... so smooth! Although I am incredibly sad for today, I have the honour of Lisa being one of my best friends so I she won't be missed in real-life but will be sorely missed in the Clearly Besotted world, which happens to be a huge part of my life too. Thank you so much Lisa for all that you have done for Clearly Besotted.

Clearly Besotted Teasers | Winter Corners

Hello there and happy Clearly Besotted release day! the December 2021 release hits the shops tonight at 8pm GMT. I have one last teaser to share with you this morning before sharing my release video with you in a couple of hours. Today I am using the super cute Winter Corners set. This set features two beautiful corner images with flowers, snowflakes and the most adorable penguins. There is also a seperate penguin plus wonderful sentiments.

I started off by stamping one of the corner images from the Clearly Besotted Winter Corners Stamp Set on to white cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. The image was coloured using Copic Markers (the colours that I used are listed below the supplies area for reference) and then fussy cut out with scissors. 

I took a panel of white cardstock and using blending brushes, blended on Ranger Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Festive Berries and Abandoned Coral in to the top right hand corner. I then splattered on Dr. Ph. Martin's Bleed Proof White paint and set it aside to dry. Once dry, it was adhered flat to an A2 white card base with tape runner. 

I adhered the penguin corner piece on top with foam tape. I took the sentiment from the Clearly Besotted Chitter Chatter Stamp Set and stamped it on to black cardstock with Versamark Ink. I applied white embossing powder and heat set. It was cut in to a strip and added to the card with more foam tape. To finish off, I added Little Things from Lucy's Cards Bubbles.

There are some lovely sentiments in the set but I wanted something a little smaller for my card and I love the simple font of the sentiments in the Chitter Chatter set.
