Captain America

Hello there, this is one of my scheduled posts while I am taking some time off. It was my nephew's birthday this week, he is a big fan of super heroes, so I decided to theme his card around Captain America's shield.

I started off by cutting lots of circles for the shield using the Hero Arts Circle Infinity Dies. I wanted to inlay the design so I first cut a large circle from red cardstock. I then cut this using a smaller circle die to create a frame. I die cut a white circle which would fit inside and repeated the steps to create a frame and then another red circle frame inside. The middle piece is a blue circle which I cut a Nestabilities star from. I then cut the star from white so that I could inlay them together. I went around the edges of the shapes with Distress Ink and an ink blending tool to create a bit of depth. It doesn't look like much in the photos but it does make a difference in real-life!

I took the seven number from the PTI Block Alphabet Numbers Die Collection and cut this five times from black cardstock. I took a white 5.5" x 5.5" square card base and adhered the shield pieces to it using tape runner. I then added the seven on to the star using liquid glue. I took the sentiment from the YNS Tag Banner Sentiments set and stamped this on to black cardstock with Versamark Ink. I applied white embossing powder and heat set. This was cut in to a strip and added to the card with foam tape. I then took the letters for my nephew's name from the Doodlebug Teensy Type Stickers set, added foam tape on to the back and added these to the card also.

It was a lot of fun creating this card. I really like trying to tailor the cards I make for my niece and nephews to their interests. Last year I made my nephew a Lego card, so I am hoping he will like this Captain America one! Thanks so much for visiting me today. I hope you are well and have a fabulous rest of the day!

VIDEO | Warmest Wishes - MFT Video Guest Designer

Hello there, today I have the absolute pleasure of guest designing over on the My Favourite Things You Tube Channel. If you have been following me for a while, you will know how much I love MFT products. Today I am creating a simple scene using some of their newest products.

How amazing is the new Drifts and Hills Stencil? For years I have been die cutting them from mask paper to ink, and now I don't have to! I love it! I thought I would try something a little different and use lilac for the sky instead of blues. I also wanted to create a bit of interest on my card so I used the popped up inlay technique to create a focal point. The new Snow Globe Die-Namics were perfect for this.

The critters in the Polar pals stamp set are so cute, I had trouble deciding which one to use but went with the seal for my card today. He is adorable! I also used the new Snow Globe Sentiments set for the greeting. To finish off, I added a few Sparkling Clear Confetti and clear Wink of Stella to the scarf and earmuffs.

I cannot wait to use some of the other critters in the Polar Pals set, especially the penguin! Thanks so much for visiting me today. I hope you have a great day!

Be Back Soon!

Hello there, I wanted to pop in today to let you know that it has sadly become necessary for me to take some time off from crafting, blogging and making videos.

Unfortunately I have been suffering with some health issues lately and they have got to the point that I need some medical intervention. I will be having a procedure next week that will hopefully help with some the symptoms I have been having.

Hopefully I won't need too much time off and will be back soon. My Design Teams have been so kind in giving me some time off, for which I am incredibly grateful. I do have a few scheduled posts coming up, so I hope you will come back to see those! See you soon! :)

Trimming The Tree

Hello there, today I have a card to share with you using the Trimming The Tree set from Clearly Besotted. It is such an adorable set filled with lots of little critters ready to decorate the tree.

For my card, I started off with a panel of white cardstock, cut using the ME Femme Frames die. I first stamped the fox and skunk and then masked off the fox to stamp the ladder beneath him. I then masked everything off, and stamped the tree behind. The sentiment was stamped in the top right hand corner. I then removed the masks and coloured the images with Copic Markers.

I took a piece of paper from the MFT Calm & Cozy Paper Pad and added this on to the front of an A2 card base. I then added the image panel on top using DST and foam sheet. To finish off, I added Glossy Accents on to the star and bauble and then black glaze pen to the critters' eyes.

COPIC MARKERS: Tree - YG17, YG23, YG03, YG01. Fox - E09, E13, E11, E50. Star - Y15, Y13, Y11. Ladder - E57, E55. Skunk - W10, W8, W6, W5, W3, W1, W0. Bauble - R89, R37, R29, R24. Ground - W3, W1, W0.

Did you spot my boo boo? I made a bit of a mistake with the angle of the ladder. The back piece should be straight and the front piece should be angled, instead of the other way around. It seemed a shame to just throw away the card, so I am hoping one of my less observant relatives may not notice! Thanks so much for visiting me today. I hope you have a great weekend!

Winter Wishes

Hello there, today I have a tag to share that I made using the Hero Arts Winter Time Fun Stamp set. This was released last year but I had to use it this year as it is just so cute!

I started off by creating the background for the tag. I took a panel of white cardstock then placed the Pop Pattern Stencil over the top. I then liberally spread over Moonstone Tonic Nuvo Glimmer Paste, using a palette knife. I removed the stencil and set the piece aside to dry and made sure to wash the stencil and palette knife very well. Once dry, I cut the panel in to a tag using one of the Nesting Tag Dies.

I stamped the tree, fox and rabbit from the Winter Time Fun stamp set on to a separate piece of white cardstock, using black ink. I coloured the images using Copic Markers and then die cut them out using the coordinating dies. I added the tree to the tag with tape runner and then adhered the fox and rabbit with foam squares.

I took the 'winter wishes' sentiment from the set and stamped this on to black cardstock with Versamark Ink. I applied white embossing powder and heat set. This was cut in to a strip and added to the tag with foam squares. To finish off, I added black Doodle Twine through the top of the tag and added black glaze pen to the fox and rabbit's eyes.

I think the Glimmer Paste works quite nicely in the background for the tag. In real-life it is really sparkly. Thanks so much for visiting me today. I hope you have a great day and a fabulous weekend!

Love You Big Time

Hello there, today I have a card to share that I made for the current issue of Simply Cards & Papercraft Magazine, which goes on sale today! I made a five cards for the magazine, all using Hero Arts stamps and dies and a masculine theme. I thought I would share my whale card with you today.

To first took the whale from the Color Layering Blue Whale stamp set and stamped this on to white cardstock. I used Pool ink for the bottom layer, followed by Deep Ocean Ink for the middle layer, and then Navy ink for the details. The whale was then cut out using the coordinating frame cuts dies. I took a panel of white cardstock and cut this using one of the Rectangle Infinity Dies. I inked up the Pearl Strings Bold Prints stamp with Soft Pool ink at the top, Pool ink in the middle and Deep Ocean ink at the bottom. This was then stamped on to the white cardstock panel using my MISTI.

I added the stamped background piece on to a navy card base using foam tape and then added the whale on top with foam tape also. I took a strip of black cardstock and stamped the sentiment on to it using Versamark Ink. I applied white embossing powder and heat set. I cut the strip diagonally on one side and added it to the card with foam tape as well. To finish off, I added black Nuvo Drops.

Fa La La La Llama

Hello there, today I have a little card to share using the adorable new Little Llamas set from Clearly Besotted. These llamas are just adorable and I particularly like the one that I have used today with the Christmas/Santa hat on.

I started off by stamping the llama on to some white cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. I then coloured the image using Copic Markers and fussy cut it out (there are coordinating dies available). I then took a piece of kraft cardstock and using the MFT Drifts & Hills stencil, blended over some Hero Arts Unicorn Pigment Ink. This created a little snowbank for the llama to stand on.

I took one of the sentiments from the set and stamped this on to the kraft piece with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. The piece was then adhered to a 3.75" x 3.75" white card base with tape runner. The llama was added on top with foam tape. To finish off, I added Star Dust Stickles to the white parts on the hat and three tiny Studio Katia snowflakes around the sentiment.

I think the llama goes nicely against the kraft cardstock and the white pigment ink worked perfectly for the snow. That MFT stencil is fantastic! Thanks so much for popping by to see me today, I really do appreciate it. I hope you are well and have a fabulous rest of the day!

VIDEO | How To Emboss With Stencils

Hello there, today I am over on the Hero Arts Blog and You Tube Channel sharing how to emboss with stencils. This is one of my favourite things to do with stencils and I love getting the extra use from them doing this. I kept my cards really simple to show off the embossing but you could ink over the embossing, you could spray over it or leave it plain like I did.

VIDEO | Card Making Haul - September & October 2017

Hello there, today I have my September and October haul to share with you. There were also a few bits that I bought at the end of August that didn't go in to my August haul.

As you would probably expect, I bought a lot of winter and Christmas stamps these last two months. Mama Elephant had a great release, as well as MFT. I got a lot of stamps, a few dies and some other bits. Here is a look at what I purchased:

You Are Loved Messages

Hello there, today I have two note cards to share using the You Are Loved Messages set from Hero Arts. Not only is this a wonderful set, when you buy it, Hero Arts donates it's profits from the sale to the Kind Campaign to help end bullying.

I started off with two panels of TH watercolour paper. I took some mask paper and cut a heart from it, using the Nesting Hearts Infinity Dies. Using the negative piece of the mask, I placed this over the watercolour paper panels. I then blended over Distress Oxide Inks. The first card uses Salty Ocean and Peacock Feathers and the second uses Picked Raspberry and Wilted Violet.

With the mask still in place, I spritzed over some Sparkle Shimmer Spritz. The masks were removed and then set aside to dry.

Once dry, I took the sentiments from the You Are Loved Messages set and stamped these on to the panels with Versafine Onyx Black Ink. I also stamped the heart from the set three times. I applied clear embossing powder and then heat set. The panels were adhered to black card bases with ATG.

The cards are a bit smaller in size than a US standard A2 size. I thought the smaller size fitted the design better. They are 3 3/4" by 4 3/4" so I will have to make some homemade envelopes for these. Thanks so much for visiting me today. I really do appreciate it. I hope you have a lovely rest of the day and a fabulous weekend!

Christmas Trees

Hello there, today I have a card to share using the new Give Thanks stamp set from the Making Spirits Bright release from Simon Says Stamp, which is out today. This is such a beautiful set for both autumn cards and winter ones. I went with a winter Christmas theme for my card today.

I started off with a sheet of watercolour paper. I took the tree from the stamp set and stamped this repeatedly over the piece using Versamark Ink. I applied white embossing powder and heat set. I then took three Distress Inks and blended these over the panel. I used Broken China, Salty Ocean and Chipped Sapphire.

I misted the panel with water and then dropped on some Iridescent Bright Silver Liquitex Ink (unfortunately in the photos it looks like grey blobs but in real-life it is iridescent and shimmery!). I felt like it needed even more shimmer, so I spritzed over some Sparkle Shimmer Spritz too. The piece was then set aside to dry.

Once dry, I die cut the piece using one of the SSS Stitched Rectangle Dies. I took the 'Merry Christmas' sentiment from the set and stamped this on to black cardstock with Versamark Ink. I applied white embossing powder and heat set. The piece was then cut in to a banner. I adhered the tree panel on to a white A2 card base with foam tape and then added the sentiment on top, with more foam tape. To finish off, I added PPP Sparkling Clear Confetti.

When I think of Christmas trees, I usually think of green and red, so it was nice to use blues for them on this occasion. Unfortunately you cannot see all of the shimmer on the panel. In real-life it is really pretty! You can find all of the new Simon Says Stamp release here. Thanks so much for visiting me today. I hope you have a lovely day!

Build A Snowman Shaker Tags

Hello there, today I have a couple of tags to share with you that I made using the new Build A Snowman Stamp Set from Clearly Besotted. I thought it would be fun for me to create some shaker tags with the set and have the snow surrounding the snowmen.

I started off by die cutting the tags pieces. I used the MFT Tag Builder Blueprints 6 set. I cut two bases from watercolour paper and then two from white cardstock (for the backs). I also cut two front pieces from white cardstock. I die cut two circles from acetate and then set these aside.

I took the watercolour paper pieces and added on some Midnight Blue Pixie Powder. I then spritzed them liberally with water. These were set aside to dry. Whilst they were drying, I stamped the snowman and snow bunny from the set on to white cardstock. I coloured them with Copic Markers and then fussy cut them out (there are dies available). I added these on to the background pieces with tape runner.

I adhered the acetate to the back of the front pieces and then added foam tape around them. I placed the background piece flat on to my work surface and sprinkled the confetti on to the middle of it. The front of the tag was then adhered over the top to create the tag.

I wanted to add a sentiment on to the back so I stamped one from the new Knitted With Love set on to the cardstock backs. These were then adhered to the back of the tag with tape runner. To finish off, I added Doodlebug Twine through the top of them.

Unfortunately the confetti mix's that I used (Fairy Dust and mini hearts) are no longer available to purchase from Lucy's Cards so I have linked to similar ones in my links list. I had great fun making these tags! Thanks so much for stopping by today. I really do appreciate it. I hope you have a great day!

Pretty Pansies

Hello there, today I have a card to share using the new Pretty pansies set from Clearly Besotted. If you liked the set that they brought out for STAMptember then I am sure you will love this one too!

I started off by stamping the two clusters of pansies in the set on to a panel of white cardstock. I stamped the images using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and then coloured them using Copic Markers. I went around the flowers with pale blues to help the flowers pop off of the panel. I also added white gel pen and pale yellow Spica dots to the insides of the flowers for some added interest.

The panel was added to a black A2 card base with foam sheet. I took the 'happy birthday' sentiment from the A Little Sentimental Set and stamped this on to a piece of black cardstock using Versamark Ink. I applied white embossing powder and heat set. This was cut in to a strip and added to the card with foam tape. To finish off, I added a few Disco Ball Jewels from Lucy's Cards.

COPIC MARKERS: Flowers - V17, V15, V12, V01, Y35, Y13, Y11 Spica 15 Buttermilk. Leaves - YG17, YG23, YG01.

Another white embossed sentiment on black! I am not sure what is wrong with me at the moment! ;) I just seem to be drawn to them. Do you ever get like that? I seem to have phases of using the same thing over and over again. Please tell me that happens to you too?! Thanks so much for popping by to see me today. I hope you have a great week!

VIDEO | Simon Says Stamp Haul #18

Hello there, today I have a quick Simon Says Stamp haul to share with you. I made the order to get the Mama Elephant STAMPtember set but to get the most of the postage, I added a few extra things in to my cart!

I got a couple of the new stencils that were released as part of their STAMPtember release. I love the intricate designs and I think they will be wonderful to emboss with, as well as ink. I got two Honey Bee sets plus a few embellishments. Here is what I got:

Modern Peonies

Hello there, today I have a card to share that I made for my mum for her birthday. My mum loves flowers so I thought it would be nice for me to use the WPlus9 Modern Peonies set for her card. Although Peonies are not purple in real-life, I went with a pale shade of purple/lilac for the flowers.

I started off by stamping the flowers and leaves with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on to white cardstock. I coloured them with Copic Markers, keeping the colours pale, and then added some lilac glitter dots with a Copic Spica pen to the flowers. They were then die-cut out with the coordinating dies.

I took a piece of white cardstock and cut this using the largest of the MFT Wonky Stitched Rectangle dies. This was adhered to a black A2 card base with foam sheet. I then added the leaves on top with ATG. The flowers were then popped up with foam squares. I stamped the sentiments from the CB Tiny Type set on to black cardstock using Versamark Ink. I applied white embossing powder and heat set. This was cut in to a strip and added to the card. To finish off, I added a few Ice Cube Jewels from Lucy's Cards.

These stamps are so beautiful. I am glad I went with pale colours for this card, I think they work quite nicely with the black and white (although difficult to photograph!). I am, however, looking forward to colouring them bolder colours next time :) Thanks so much for visiting me today. I hope you have a great weekend!

Happy Anniversary

Hello there, today I have a card to share with you using the adorable new Kiss Me Quick stamp set from Clearly Besotted. I fell in love with these cute animals as soon as a I saw the set and thought the bunnies would be nice to create a card for my brother and sister-in-law's wedding anniversary.

I started off by taking a panel of white cardstock and stamping the bunnies on to it. I then went ahead and created a forest for the bunnies to be in. I had planned on making the background more autumnal but as I was going along, it became more spring/summer like but that is ok :) I freehand drew in the trees and grass and then added a little blue for the sky. The colours that I used are listed below the supplies section.

On a seperate piece of cardstock, I stamped the hearts from the set, coloured these with Copics, cut them out and added them to the card with glue. I adhered the whole panel to an A2 white card base with ATG. I took the sentiment from the Tiny Type set and stamped this on to black cardstock with Versamark Ink. I applied white embossing powder and then heat set. This was cut in to a strip and added to the card with foam tape. To finish off, I added white gel pen dots to the bunnies and then Glossy Accents to the hearts.

The background didn't quite come out as I had planned but it was my first time at drawing trees so I am fairly pleased with it! For more inspiration using the new release from Clearly Besotted, please check out my teamies Stephanie, Keren and Debby. Thanks so much for popping by today. I hope you have a great day!
